Re: More 1/72 diecast tanks from Hobby Master

I found that Hobby Master has a very good IS-2/JS-2 in 1:48 already; I hope they can make it in 1:72.

Re: More 1/72 diecast tanks from Hobby Master

Pass on to Hobbymaster that we need a nice 1:72 JS-2. There's easily 10 schemes there, with green/winter/Berlin striped, and endless slogan/unit markings.

Re: More 1/72 diecast tanks from Hobby Master

I really like that Hobby Master is doing a proper WWII Pershing. I have both the Altaya and Easy Models Pershing, if Hobby Master continues with the high quality as seen in their first 2 1/72 scale releases, their Pershing will be superior.

Hawkonevoodoo,

You may want to suggest to Hobby Master that they do the exact Pershing as seen in the infamous black and white footage that took out the Panther in Cologne, Germany 1945.

Re: More 1/72 diecast tanks from Hobby Master

Yes, I agree that the quality/accuracy of the Pershing tanks by Ixo (Altaya) and Easy Models is somewhat "suboptimal". I'd also like that HM would release a good Pershing, and including the tank in the above-mentioned footage is an excellent idea.

I also think that a 1/72nd version of their IS-2 would be most welcome - there are loads of potential schemes for these handsome tanks, both during and after WW2, and then... well, both the ISU-122 and ISU-152 have a number of parts/moulds in common, haven't they?

I think for a twist they should also consider getting into the sdkfz 250 halftrack series. The schemes and options there are as numerous as for its larger 251 brother, and with the small size and recon role, would provide some nice variety. The interior would of course be a little tricky at first.

I'd like an M10, too, and could see a green normandy, whitewash winter, french, polish/English (I'm sure one of these two used an unaltered version at least for a bit?), a heavily weathered dusty campaign version of the normandy, perhaps with different unit markings, and the green w/black cammo version used during COBRA. That's 6 right off the top, and if they do 2-3 US ones with different markings (black stars, circle stars, etc.), they could stretch it even further. These served in the meditteranean theater as well and I think there may have been some lighter oversprays in Italy (Sicily too?)

Anyway, I think 8 distinctive schemes is very doable for just about any US made armor due to how widely they were used and by so many countries. Anyway, you can do more schemes for an M10 than I bet you'll see on the pershing.

Re: More 1/72 diecast tanks from Hobby Master

I would like HM to produce:

An 88mm Flak gun and half track
Panzer IV
Bofors gun and truck
Opel Blitz
Churchill A.V.R.E
Warrior APC
Stryker
DUKW
V2 plus launcher etc
Some ground vehicles for aircraft (Bedford QL?)

I reckon they could really steal the thunder from Dragon (like they are doing to Corgi on the aircraft front....)

Great idea, I would buy that in a second!

On another note, I just wish someone, anyone would stop talking about doing a Panzer IV, and just do one! The old MB ones are pretty good, but why, oh why does the workhorse of the German Army always get left out? There are so many versions/schemes/etc. you could do, I'm sure the mold would pay for itself and more!

Re: More 1/72 diecast tanks from Hobby Master

I subscribe to all the above...

And then Matildas, Pzkfw III's, Crusaders, and TRUCKS - vehicles like the Opel Blitz, the Matador, and Dodge & GMC trucks, as well as the ubicuous post-war M35's, M52's, and M923's, not to mention Russian designs, wore (and still wear) a plethora of schemes in their multiple variants - an endless source of possibilities for the manufacturer and the collector alike.

Last, but not least, how about putting HM excellence in model painting to good use with some MERDC schemes?

Possibilities are nearly endless, I'm afraid

I'm extremely pleased with the upcoming T-55s. If they get into M-47s, -48s, and -60s, then we truly have a Cold War collection to start.

Re: More 1/72 diecast tanks from Hobby Master

I am hoping Hobby Master makes some tanks that are planned by either Easy Model or Dragon. Easy Model has many variants of both the Panzer III and Panzer IV in their most recent catalog. They also have a French Char 1, German Famo 18, and German Pz.Sfl IV b. Both Dragon and Easy Model have announced Brumbars and Stug III's. No Russian or US tanks destroyers announced or Panzer II's. I would love to see some German mobil artillery and how about a Hetzer.
