Kv-2

Took some comparison pictures of the Hobby Master KV-2 and the Easy Models KV-2. Both are prebuilt/prepainted 1/72 tanks, the main difference would be the Easy Models tank is all plastic and the Hobby Master tank is mostly diecast.

Hmmm, that's surprising, I though HM's KV-2 would run rings around MRC's version, but that is not the case! The giant seams on the Hobby Master's lower and upper hull jump right out at you, and I much prefer EM's weathering and the general look of its suspension.

Still good work to both companies!

Now where are the JS-II's?

Re: Kv-2

Nice comparison - again I prefer the EM weathered version to the HM one.

Re: Kv-2

I have the Hobby Master and its pretty dog gone wonderful. I don't own the Easy Model, but I've seen them up close and personal in the hobby shop and while they look really good, to these eyes they are a little less crisp, for lack of a better term. Maybe it's the finish? Maybe its actually dholding it and it being a little lighter to the touch, but I prefer the Hobby Master.

Seeing that the cost of them (At least where I've seen Easy Model listed and here locally.) are the same, I get the Hobby Master first and "fill in" the gaps with Easy Model.

Anyone know a place to get Easy Model cheap?

Anything for a weird life.

Re: Kv-2

This illustrates exactly what I was talking about on the “Heft vs Looks” thread. The old plastic-vs-metal debate. Which is the more desirable? Honestly, in this case both models look so good it’s kinda hard to decide between them.

I own the Hobby Master KV 2 and love it. It definitely looks real, right down to the rivets. And it’s got that lovely heft I like so much. I don’t own the Easy Model KV 2 (I own the M 26 Pershing, though), but judging from this photograph it looks just as good. And it costs less (always a big plus).

So which one would I choose given the choice again? Probably the Hobby Master. Since the details are so close on both tanks, I’d opt for metal. I like the idea that it’s heavier and would likely survive a fall from my shelf. Can't speak for the EM.

If the EM were better detailed, more crisp, it’d be a no brainer. I’d buy it instead.

Hey, if you guys don’t own a KV-2, buy it. It might have an encephalitic turret, but it’s got heart. It’s a great addition to any 1/72 armor collection.

It is never too late to be what you might have been.

I think this scheme. Is this HM or Easy Model? Looks like HM.
