1/200 fighter jets in detail

Some may think these 1/200 fighter jet diecast models are too small, but I really think they deserve some credit.
I posted some pictures of the Herpa 1/200 Russian Su-27 with a colorful tailfin.
Here I am posting pictures of a World Aircraft Collection 1/200 Recconaissance Phantom JSDF...no US liveries so far.
look at the details in such a small model, the printing is superb!
The Russian Su-27 is almost exactly the same as the 1/72 Witty version, the small one is blue 388 and the big one is blue 319, on the port side under the cockpit you can read (on both versions) V. Pugachov (in Cyrillic Alphabet)!
On the Chinese Su-27 you can also see intricate printing on the tailfin.
These three are from WAC (I think the same guys behind witty produces these, as i pointed out the similarities of the mould, livery and printing techniques), Herpa has already released F/A-18F Diamondbacks 50th, excellent finish but I don't have it here. The Typhoon is also out there.
The overall photo shows the Gaincorp 1/72 Su-34 bort 45 for size reference. The mobile phone is also for size reference.

Re: 1/200 fighter jets in detil

These look pretty good for their size, but I have a couple of 1/144 fighters (F-15, F-16, A-10) and think they are far too small already. 1/200 is out of the qestion for me.

BTW, the F-4 is definitely NOT a recconaissance version. It's got the gun fairing under the nose...

But thanks for posting the pictures, they are very informative.

I have quite my share of 1/144 stuff, mostly from "trading figures" (Japan's twist on trading cards, a range of models come in the same box, making it impossible to know what you get until you open it)...and their quality may vary enormously depending on the brand or the batch.

These 1/200 are in a totally different league, mostly made of metal, with very fine panel lines, and to-scale ordnance.

Accuracy of the moulds may be questionable...regarding the F-4, here is what the box says, I am no expert but this may be a Japanese specific variant of the Phantom...or a vile attempt to maximise the utilisation of a mould. It does have a pod instead of a centreline fuel tank and lacks missiles, but the recessed spaces are there.

b-huj,

Yes, the quality looks very nice indeed, no arguing that. In fact, if you didn't know it, from the pictures alone one would think it's a larger scale.

On the F-4/RF-4 thing, yes, I see that the centerline store may be a reconaissance pod, but a true RF-4EJ has a very different nose with no gun and instead several windows for nose-mounted cameras. Just like you said, I think they are trying to get more mileage out of one mould. But still a nice model nonetheless. Just looks more like an F-4EJ (and I have to check, but perhaps they are indeed flying some of those with recce pods these days, it's certainly within the realm of the possible).

Those are awesome! Kinda like the 1/200 and 1/144 plastic trading figures sold overseas in Asia except made of diecast. Gotta get me some of those.

Re: 1/200 fighter jets in detail

i beg to disagree, but these are NOT like 1/200 or 1/144 trading figures, they are in a totally different league. Trading figures can be good sometimes, like that latest Su-27 you pictured someplace else, but that is not for sure.

On the RF-4EJ I found some interesting information, graphic and textual.

http://geta-o.maxs.jp/LATEST/2004-12...2004-12-08.htm
www.scramble.nl/mil/2/jasdf/jasdf-orbat.htm

The woddy woodpecker tail logo means it is either a RF-4E or a RF-4EJ or T-4 from 501 "Hikotai" 飛行隊( (sq) located at Hyakuri Air Base 百里基地 (*RJAH wy 03-21 36° 10' 45N 140° 24' 50E Elev: 105 ft.). The RF-4E does have a nose shape different from the model, but the RF-4EJ is almost exacly as the pictures of the real thing show it. I now wonder what is the function of the gun pod if this is a recconnaisance jet?!

OK, b-huj, I could have sworn that what they call the RF-4E was in fact the RF-4EJ, but I stand corrected. I'll look into it some more, though, I'm intrigued.

1/200 warbirds

Somebody told me there is a die-cast 1/200 scale warbirds, I've never seen any, have you seen some? This seems like an awfully small model to me. If you have any names and information I'd like to see it. I can't quite imagine that scale being a big hit, maybe I'm wrong. This is just my personal curiosity, I think 1/144 is as small as I would want to go. I have a few 1/144 in bombers but I can't see a fighter 1/200.

Re: 1/200 warbirds

There is a Takara 1/200 scale line of F4 Phantom's and the latest release of a F-15 Eagle's.
I think it's called 1/200 World Wing Museum .
These little fighter are really small too.
