Re: 1/200 fighter jets in detail

These are popular in japan .Ofcourse, thats cos ppl there have literally no space to carry them. I saw quite a few shops carrying World Aircraft Collection over there. I saw and bought, RF-4EJ, F-15J, Ukraine Su-27, Su-27 Russian Knights, Su-27 Russian front-line unit camo, F-2 Single seat( cos the twin seat din have any armaments), F-15J Aggressor and a T-2. They costed me about 2/3rd the price of Herpa's ones and the detail level of them are fantastic. Infact, i find the World Aircraft Collection planes have more detail on markings than Herpa. They have all the tiny no step signs on and the missiles look better than herpas. My F-15J has all the thin yellow and maroon band markings. You really can have your own airforce with this size, or your own airshow display anyway. Really finding trouble to accomodate all my 1/72nds. Especially with 15 Tomcats. Thankgod they're swing wing!!

Konishi in Japan also makes a wide range of 1/200 planes made out of brass. Not cheap but lots of variety. Here for example is a 1/200 Hellcat I got on Ebay.

Re: 1/200 fighter jets in detail

Hello all, I’ll be visiting Japan very soon, I don’t suppose any one out there know of any Diecast stores apart from Top Gun??? This site has been very useful http://www2k.biglobe.ne.jp/~t_muto/indexe.htm (Wing Tabix, Top Gun etc) however most of the shops listed here are in Tokyo?

In my neck of the woods it’s very hard to source 1/200 scale fighters!!!!

Any advice would be muchly appreciated.

Cheers CKS1.

You can ask the staff at Top Gun and just walk around the Akihabara area with all the shops. You'll find a couple ard. Usually have some posters of models etc. If its ur first time to japan, you'd find many shops in one building. so just look ard

You're talking about 1/72 when you say they're swing wing right?
I still haven't seen the WAC 1/200 F-14 but the photos so far show it wings deployed, take-off or landing config.
Herpas have them swept back. Not sure if I really want a swing wing mechanism on such a small scale, would probably break too easily?
Talking about Herpas, the Black Bunny is here with me! Photos were taken in a rush, pardon the bad lighting but it's a black model and it;s a cloudy day.

G’day Andrew.

I’ve been to Japan before and have had a time of it trying to find shops; Tokyo and particularly Akihabara was a good score. Don’t suppose you know of any shops out side of Tokyo; Osaka, Kyoto etc??

Are you up to much for ANZAC day??

Cheers CKS1.

Sorry, for the lack of response. Don't really check this side of the forum much hehe
Unfortunately I've only been to Tokyo and that was only for 3 days. but spent 1 whole day just in Akihabara looking for my planes hehe It has sooo much more to offer than here in Sydney. The real kick in the groin here is that the stores seem to get all the items a few months later than places around the world.
