Achtung Panzer!!!

Here's my Panzer III Ausf L from the Tamiya 1/48MM collection. OK, I know it's plastic...but I haven't taken my eyes off it since it was delivered to my office this afternoon (much to the dismay of my boss!)

Hope the pics come out clearly. Sorry about the bad lighting though.

Re: Achtung Panzer!!!

And here is the Panzer III's sparring partner...representing the Allied cause...the Cromwell Mk IV. Also from the Tamiya 1/48MM collection.

This is probably going to be my last few armour purchases for the moment. Am expanding into diecast aircraft. Already got a couple of CW Tomcats and I have a long wish list of modern US diecast jets. So I will be embarking on a massive procurement exercise of diecast aircraft in the coming weeks.

Thanks for posting these pictures, Paladin. I have several Tamiya tanks including the Cromwell and think that they are very well done. They also seem fairly hefty for plastic----perhaps they slip some metal in them to add weight. Although they are fairly expensive, I recommend them highly and will probably add the Panzer III as well.

You're most welcome Epapazian. Yes, you're right. I suspect there's some weight added into the chasis. I think the price is a put off for many collectors. The Panzer III cost me US$47 excl. shipping. I think a 21st Century tank in 1:32 scale can be bought for about half the price. But I have decided to get the Panzer III anyhow because there's very few in the market. Admiral has produced some in 1:72 scale and some time back. 21st Century has released it in a cople of different paint schemes in 1:32 scale. I stand corrected, I think Tamiya is the only manufacturer that has manufactured it in 1:48 scale.

Re: Achtung Panzer!!!

I think the Pz III and Cromwell look really cool Paladin. Do you keep them covered? I love the green on the Cromwell.

Re: Achtung Panzer!!!

Thanks! Yes, I keep it covered because of the dust and humidity over here in the tropics. Since the pics were taken, I have removed the bases and displayed it in my glass showcase.
