Thumbs up Marklin tanks and other military stuff

Yes I know these are 1/87, but they are topnotch and 100 % metal ! (very heavy for the size !)

Available : Leopard 2A1, Leopard 2A6, Flakpz Guepard. Next : Leopard 1A1, M48G.

Many German wheeled armored and softskin vehicles also in this range, and soon helicopters too (Bell UH-1).

Other types of helicopters used by the BW or BGS, already made in plastic by roco might follow : BO105, EC135, Puma, CH-53... Wait and see...

Re: Marklin tanks and other military stuff

If they are anything like the Marklin train quality, must be pretty good.

Brewster Buffalo, Hawk 75A, Fokker D.XXI, Polikarpov I-16, Fiat G.50, Macchi C. 200, PZL P.11c, Fieseler Fi 156 Storch ,,,, now those are real planes.

Hmmm...1/87 looks a wee bit small. Wonder if any detail is sacrificed because of the small scale, especially for the armour?

Re: Marklin tanks and other military stuff

I still have mixed feelings on this range... I carefully examined pictures of their already released vehicles, and detail is coarser when compared to their ROCO Minitanks (now Herpa) counterparts. The Minitanks range consists of plastic models, and while running gears in tracked vehicles are typically simplified, detail is awsome everywhere else.

This Märklin range is made up of metal models (a bonus point for many of you), and fine detailing is not as good; if you examine the oversimplified running gear parts in their Gepard AA tank, you'll see what I mean. However, pictures of upcoming models, such as the M48, seem to include improved track/wheel parts, and finer detailing. All in all the 4MFOR range looks promising, and their paint job is much better than Minitanks' attempts.

The running gear, molded in solid zamac, is indeed the weakness...

Re: Marklin tanks and other military stuff

Hello, gentlemen.

I just received two 4mfor wheeled vehicles (Wolf and Fennek) I recently ordered just to give this range a try, and they're simply awsome!!! The boxes are also designed so that you can keep the models in them once the small parts have been added. Everything looks absolutely superb! (Details, painting, and that "hefty" feel that so many of you love.)

Now I really want 4mfor to fix the track problem with their tanks!

Wow!
