Re: Just Arrived Today...My M2A2 Bradley!!!

That's a really nice looking model Paladin! I love Tamiya Masterworks, it's just hard finding them online.....otherwise I'd end up breaking the bank for them! Thanks for posting the pictures!

No worries mate! You're most welcome. The local Tamiya distributor informed me that there's usually only one or two production runs per model, which explains why it is so difficult to find them online. There are two more models in the Masterworks range that I am keen on, the Panther and the King Tiger, which are selling on-line for about US$136.00 and US$193.00 respectively! I am putting off plans to go into diecast aircraft collecting until I get hold of these two beauties!

The Tamiya Masterworks Abrams and Bradley alone cost me over US$200, not including shipping!
Anyway, the money bit is indeed a problem...but just the tip of the iceberg.

The difficult part is to make my wife understand that these two models are essential for my collection.
Trust me, now that really takes some trying!!!

Those Masterworks models make for an impressive looking display model.

Brewster Buffalo, Hawk 75A, Fokker D.XXI, Polikarpov I-16, Fiat G.50, Macchi C. 200, PZL P.11c, Fieseler Fi 156 Storch ,,,, now those are real planes.

1:35 scale huh......I'm going to have to check these M2A2's out ...
I have been thinking for a while of starting a small tank collection now that there is a little slow up on the Corgi aircraft front.

JP, remember the straw and the camels back?

Might be a good idea to lay low for a while.

but I can see why you are tempted.

Re: Just Arrived Today...My M2A2 Bradley!!!

I have been scrutinising my Tamiya M2A2 on and off in the last couple of days. Thoroughly satisfied with my purchase.

In fact, the more I see it and compare with the FOV M3A2 Bradley, the more I wonder why on earth did I went ahead to purchase the FOV Bradley to beging with (sorry, FOV fans!). Granted that at US$93, the Tamiya Bradley is two and a half times more expensive than the US$36 I paid for the FOV Bradley.

Apart from the price, I think FOV scores on heft. But that is just about where the comparison ends. Tamiya wins hands down in the "look" and weathering departments. The level of details and the finishing touch of the Tamiya Bradley are just streets ahead of FOV. (Have posted pics of my FOV Bradley in the FOV thread.)

Just must personal opinion. I know that FOV has its fair share of fans out there and I mention the above at the risk of having egg on my face.

I agree that FOV products are comparatively more price competitive to pieces from Tamiya, which are generally seen as pricey. I think many will point to the fact that paying so much for a plastic model from Tamiya is difficult to justify whereas FOV models are cheaper and more solidly constructed.

I agree Paladin,
FOV has some excellent stuff but they do lack some fine detail in their molds. Now depending on the model, the detail is very nice and you can't beat the price! Most of their models (strictly speaking armor of course), are great but they do walk that fine line of model and toy. I still like them and have a huge WWII dio with all FOV German and U.S. Armor.
