Question 1/24 VS Tanks...Any Comments? Reviews?

Dear fellow forummers,

Just chanced upon the VS tanks website...vstanks.com. These are radio control/static display tanks in 1/24 scale (I think). So far, they have M1A2, Tiger I, Type 90, Panther, Leopard and T-72 in their line-up, with KV-1 and KV-2 in the pipeline. The tanks come in 4 series...infrared, airsoft, sparkling and collector's. I'm not so much into RC tanks myself, but the models looked very nicely done. I think a Leopard or Panther from the collector's series would look nice in any miniature armour collection. Also, I noticed from the website that VS tanks also sells various add-on accessories, e.g. crew figures, backpacks, etc., and display bases separately.

Can't seem to find a thread on this. Does anybody own a VS tank? Comments and reviews welcome....

Paladin

I don't have one, but have been looking at them as well.

Besides VSTankPro, there's another brand on ebay, Trumpeter, and they're a little bigger at 1/16. About the same price as VSTankPro and they use IR guns too.
I don't think I'd want an airsoft gun, as I'm not into shooting BB's.
What I don't understand about the Trumpeter ones on ebay is that is says two tanks can do battle, but the listings show four different frequencies for four different tanks. So why couldn't four tanks do battle?

I'd like to get some more info on any of these as well, particularly in regard to how durable they are.

Re: 1/24 VS Tanks...Any Comments? Reviews?

Looking at the ebay seller who sells these Trumpeter tanks, Hobby Summit, I notice they sell another brand as well, name of Tokyo Marui. What's interesting is that the larger scale Trumpeter's (1:16) are cheaper that the smaller scale Tokyo Marui's (1:24).
I wonder what the reason is for that.
I do notice that nowhere does it say what kind of combat system is used by the Tokyo Marui models (either infrared or BB's). If they shoot BB's, that might make them cheaper.

Re: 1/24 VS Tanks...Any Comments? Reviews?

Hmmm...I have come across quite a few RC tanks in the market while searching for static diecast armour. Besides Marui, VS and Trumpeter, there's also Heng Long, Hobby Engine and Tamiya. I think there's a UK retailer called tankzone.com or something like that who specialises in RC tanks. They've got quite a good range. The problem is that prices are in pound sterling. At the present, USD-Singapore dollar exchange rate works better for me.

Miket - Thanks for the awesome pics. Think I might just get an M1A2 from VS's airsoft series when payday beckons.

Do you have any links to retailers for Heng Long? All I've seen are numerous YouTube videos. I can't find much on ebay either under that name.
Tamiya is way out of my price range and besides, I think they're kits.
I've found out that the 1/16 Marui tanks shoot pellets, not IR, so I likely wouldn't get one.
It'll be a while anyway before I get into any of this.

Hi there, have you seen Heng Long's website at henglongtoys.net? I'm not sure if the website contains links to their retailers though.

Re: 1/24 VS Tanks...Any Comments? Reviews?

Hello 91ken, I went through the henglongtoys.net site last night. The English version does not say very much and does not contain any information on foreign distributors/retailers. I think it dropping them an e-mail might be a better option.

I didn't even see any mention of scale. Do you know it?
They look a lot like VSTankPro's.

Edit: Here's a website that compares Heng Long, VSTAnk Pro and Tokyo Marui models. Keep in mind this page is copyrighted by VSTank Pro.
