Re: King & Country announces new Desert Tiger Tank

This vehicle is now in stock. This Tiger is actually a little larger than previous King & Country Tigers. It appears that some of their previous releases were slightly off scale and this tank is truer to scale.

Thanks

Re: King & Country announces new Desert Tiger Tank

These models are truly stunning. But the scale, and even more the price, are show-stoppers for me, unfortunately.

Why the strange scale , by the way (if I may ask)?

Re: King & Country announces new Desert Tiger Tank

I don't have a definite answer as far as the scale but I can provide a little background. Back in the early 90's King & Country was a very small company. At the time the toy soldier market was primarily made in gloss and more of the classic versus realist look. I think that when K&C went over to the matte finish they also went to the 1:30 scale. I wasn't in the market at that time so I could be wrong on that. Now the dominant scale in the toy soldier market is 1:30 (particularly in WWII). Some of the manufacturers still do WWII in 1:32 but don't have as wide a selection of product.

Thanks
Ronnie

Thanks for the insight.

Again, these models are truly beautiful. I don't know, I may have to save a bit and get me one, some day...

FVD, my understanding is that a reason, if not the main reason, for the scale is simply to facilitate a better quality sculpt for the figures. In other words, more detail and better quality painting. It's pure hearsay but I have heard that explanation on more than one occasion.

I am still a diecast plane collector but, after years of admiring from afar, I have dabbled just a little in these because they are just too cool. They make great stand alone displays or you can really get into the diorama creation because there are so many diorama accessories. By the way, these pieces also really do appreciate in value

Re: King & Country announces new Desert Tiger Tank

Hope I'm not moving to off topic, yes K&C are good, but have any of you seen the Figarti V-1 sets? Their are two V-1's with two add on sets. Their also in 1/30 scale. I have them on order, and their going to make the V-2 with lots of add on stuff. All the V-1 stuff is VERY limited in numbers produced. I like the V-1 on the transport sled with the metal figures all in a pushing pose.

Re: King & Country announces new Desert Tiger Tank

Here are some pics of the V-1 sets. Figarti is making some very interesting items. As you mentioned they are limited. Every item they make is limited to 100 sets. They are also merging into 1:30 scale for their WWII line. This is in an attempt to be compatible with King & Country. Their vehicles are very good, some say better than K&C. Their figures are improving but still not quite as good as K&C.

Thanks

Re: King & Country announces new Desert Tiger Tank

Great picture, thanks Ronnie.

I like the 4 figure add on set for this V-1. With all 8 men pushing and pulling it really sets this V-1 scene off. And even though the figures are not as good a K&C yet, the center piece is the V-1 and it's stunning. And just think how a nearly 19" V-2 with figures and support vehicles will look
