| CDC 1:72 tanks questions I just procured 5 CDC 1:72 sherman tanks, and 1 panzer. (Cost me some arms and legs) They are very detailed and heavy. It is as good as how you guys described it in the forum. However, there is some problems on 2 of the tanks. First, the Sherman M4-A3 (75) (Art. 3130) has the front lower part of the hull painted in white. Is that what it supposed to be? The sherman M4-A2 (76) (Art. 3136) has it gun pointing to the ground. I tried to yank it up but it just won't budge. Can CDC gun has some range of movements like the dragon armor tanks? Please let me know before I try to yank it harder again. Thanks in advance for your help. | |||||||||||||

| Re: CDC 1:72 tanks questions My 3130 tank is painted white on the lower front. (Why?- I don't know.) My 3136's gun does not elevate (up or down). The gun is parallel to the ground. Something you could try to fix yours is to dissasemble the turret (unscrew from the bottom of the tank, then unscrew the turret assembly, then you may be able to adjust the gun without using too much force. | |||||||||||||

| Re: CDC 1:72 tanks questions Jetlover, Congratulations. The CDC armor line is what got me addicted back in 1997. I have over 50 of their tanks. Yes, 3130 has a white lower front. The barrel on 3136 should be parallel to the ground. In the 1997 catalogue the barrel is aimed "somewhat" upward. Of course, the picture is of a prototype. Try the above suggestion. Again, congratulations. | |||||||||||||

| Re: CDC 1:72 tanks questions
Be careful with that gun, Jetlover. A lot of CDC armour was a bit faulty when it came out. I would spend ages in hobby shops comparing items and testing the traverse of the turrets and the elevation of the guns. Many tanks had mantlets which were misaligned, and therefore the guns elevated in a screwy way; off-angle. Another fault was that mantlets had been forced in to the locating jaws on one side of the inner turret, but not the other, or sometimes the locating jaws had been sheared off in the process. CDC's quality control was not good, so many imperfect models are out there. When you are dealing with a die-cast gun, better be careful where you exert force. 1.72WWll's advice is the best way to go. You may find that the mantlet has been glued to the turret in an attempt to remedy a fault. If the mantlet is free, work from the inside to even it and to position you gun in a suitable pose. If it still droops, you may have to glue it to secure a realistic elevation. | ||||||||||||||
