Re: Altaya Brummbar

Looks as good as a diecast which CDC might have done in their hayday.

Where do you buy them?

I guess that they will eventually appear in the UK as part of a PART-WORK series of magazines+models.

Re: Altaya Brummbar

This site has little reviews and comments about the Altaya tanks.

The Brummbar does not get good reviews. Altaya German tanks have been very dissapointing, although I do like their Russian KV-1E, JS-2, and the French S35. I do have their Puma too, and well it is the only Puma out there right now.

Re: Altaya Brummbar

Thanks for posting the link to the very useful Altaya site.

I've seen the range before on a Spanish site and also, in more detail, at LegioLXXll's Diecast 1.72 site.

Despite all the negative criticism, I would still like to get many of the Altaya items. I am not prepared to pay over-the-odds prices for them, though, so I'm not going to get them on mail-order from some continental site. I have a feeling that they'll turn up in the UK, sooner or later, just as the 1.43 Hongwell/Schuco military series did.

Some company like Schuco will buy a licence to market them. The market demands it.

With skirts that thick they'd have won the war.

Re: Altaya Brummbar

They're currently available in 3 or 4 European countries and you can usually find them on Ebay. They retail for about 10 Euros (approximately $13). They'll eventually be available in the US, UK and elsewhere.

They're more expensive on Ebay. I saw a couple "buy it now" auctions in the US listed at $40 & $50 (before shipping). I found a seller from Italy selling the exact same tanks including shipping to the US and they're under $30. Proof enough that it's worth the extra 5 minutes to search out the cheapest source.

I did a comparison review between an Altaya and Dragon Armor King Tiger. http://www.diecast72.com/review1.asp

Re: Altaya Brummbar

Thanks LegioLXXll,

The Altaya KT looks pretty poor. I'm sure that CDC would have provided a better version, if they hadn't pulled the plug on their 1.72 diecast armour.

Such is the way of the diecast world!

Also, on prices, considering the price of diecast trucks on the market, I say that £13 is too expensive. I'll wait and get cheap cutouts
