Desired Military Vehicles & Paint Schemes (All Types)

Considering the success of the "Desired Planes & Paint Schemes (All Types)" thread in the Aircraft Models section I think we need one for Military Vehicles.

I'll start with....

Stryker Light Armored Vehicle III (LAV III)

There are so many variations of this vehicle that could be done.

I agree wholeheartedly with the Stryker! I saw that there already is a 1/144 Paladin and 1/144 MLRS in the Can do range.

Various images of Hetzers. As far as I can remember, the only scale 1.72 model offered was the ESCI kit. I have built a couple and the little monster looks great in the " Ambush" scheme which I used.

Come on Dragon! Let's see a 1.72 version in various camo schemes.

Re: Desired Military Vehicles & Paint Schemes (All Type

The first photo is of the Styker MGS. I recall from info on the initial testing phase that if the main gun was fired while it was oriented at the 3 or 6 o'clock position, that the entire vehicle had a nasty tendency to roll onto its side from the force of the recoil.

But I do agree that the Stryker is one of my top requests for new molds.

Doesn't the MGS use the same 105mm smooth bore that's found in the Abrams?

Re: Desired Military Vehicles & Paint Schemes (All Type

The M1A1 and M1A2 series have a 120mm smoothbore cannon. According to globalsecurity.org:

"The two variations of the LAV III that will be produced for the Interim Armored Vehicle program are the Infantry Carrier Vehicle and the Mobile Gun System. The Stryker Mobile Gun System carries a 105mm cannon, the same gun tube as the one on the original M-1 Abrams tank. This is not a tank replacement, but it gives a direct fire capability to support the infantry elements. The principal function of the Mobile Gun System (MGS) is to provide rapid and lethal direct fires to support assaulting infantry. The MGS is a key weapons overmatch platform to ensure mission success and survivability of the Combined Arms Company."

Ok, I was relying on my rather outdated and rusty knowledge of armor.
The M1A1 series, produced from 1985 through 1993, replaced the M1’s 105mm main gun with a 120mm gun and incorporated numerous other enhancements, including an improved suspension, a new turret, increased armor protection, and a nuclear-chemical-biological protection system.
