Picked up a 1:72 CDC Armour Collection Panther tank today -- #3161, which is the most common of the panthers... for $25.01.

Seen these go from anywhere between 60-150 over the last two years.

Ending auctions on a wednesday is never a great idea, but it was otherwise listed clearly.

The funny thing is I didn't even snipe, as is my usual ebay tactic. I put a bid of 25.01 in on it this afternoon figuring I'd not be around the PC when it closed... it was at 19.99 when I bid.

Another guy bid 24.97 right before the auction closed -- what a strange bid... but I got him by a whole .04$

If you haven't seen 'em, the CDC tanks are pretty nice -- nearly all metal with a high level of detail, been out of production for several years now. Haven't been following this line for a while, maybe it's in decline in terms of demand?

I think that you just got lucky in one of those rare ebay moments.

The demand for CDC Armour is still strong. Last month in the U.K. someone put on a Whirlwind, a Panther and several Mark 1Vs. The prices were strong.
About £40.00 for the Panther, £37.00 for the Whirlwind and £40.00 for the Mark 1Vs.

I have a small collection of CDC Armour, about 10, and I keep tabs on the prices.

Been watching alot of CDC Armour for sale lately and just saw a US 2.5 ton truck sell for $95! Then you have the complete opposite with several LAV 25's selling for under $2 (new in their boxes). They seem to vary in price quite a bit. Wish Mattel would release the entire range at some point.

Be glad you have the CDC Panther. I have almost 50 of the CDC tanks, and love them. I have 8 Panthers. In fact, I bid on the one that you got, but I didn't bid much, since I have such a strong collection. It is rare to see a Panther offered. You can see some Shermans, trucks, and a few LAVs, but not the Panthers. $25.00 is a great price! The CDC armor line has been discontinued since ca. 1998. However, any collector of armor knows the value, and the future value of this line of armor. With Admiral now leaving their metal content tanks in favor of plastic, CDC is the only 1/72 armor with high metal content. Hold on to it! When they first hit the market, the tanks were $24.95 each. Congratulations.

Hobby Masters upcoming 1/72 tank releases will be mostly diecast too. I won a 1/72 Matchbox diecast Panther off Ebay which is the same as one of the CDC Armour Panthers. Wish Matchbox would release more of the old CDC Armour range.
