Re: About Altaya Armour

Here's a picture of an alternate version of the 1:72 Altaya King Tiger. (Olive drab replaces the tan color.) I have never seen one for sale. The picture is from a collector in Europe and I don't know how he got the tank.

Re: About Altaya Armour

What country is this collector in? Poland seems to have the biggest variances between all the series released in both paint schemes and markings.

Re: About Altaya Armour

I stumbled upon the forum where you saw that picture, not sure where he got it from either. Interesting.

Re: About Altaya Armour

172WWII

I had a buddy check out that forum (it's in Spanish) and he said some of the stuff has been customized which is most likely the case here. The guy that posted the pictures of his collection lives in the North of Spain so it's probably that version just repainted. One of the modern tanks he has posted also is different in that it has camo netting on the front which would be an add on.

Re: About Altaya Armour

If it's a repaint, it was done very well. I'm glad you found where I got the picture, because I searched for it again and couldn't find the source.

By the way, here is a variant of the 1:72 Altaya Sherman
This is a screen shot of the Altaya commercial at http://www.altaya.es/public/spots/m...rros_20Cast.mpg.
I have never seen this version sold anywhere. My guess is that this was one of the preproduction models.

Re: About Altaya Armour

I've wondered about that Sherman too, maybe we will see it offered later on.

This can´t be the Altaya Sherman since it's a early M4 with a 75mm cannon and a 3 piece transmission cover. The Altaya is a late M4A3 (different front plate) with a single pice transmission cover and a 105mm cannon. Maybe this picture is from a different (older) Altaya collection. It's not from their 1/72 collection

Excellent observation. Makes you wonder about it.

Re: About Altaya Armour

Great observation. I didn't notice that the mold was different until you pointed it out.
Here's another picture. On the left - Altaya Commercial. On the right - the Sherman that's being sold. Clearly these are two different molds. The commerical shows the tank next to other 1:72 tanks - it looks to me that it is 1:72.

Also, I noticed that the link to the commercial didn't work in my previous post. Here is a working link.
http://www.altaya.es/public/spots/me...ros_20Cast.mpg

I also noticed in the commercial that the camouflage pattern for the panther is slightly different than the model that I have.
