A 34 COMET tank ?

As an aircraft enthusiast who occasionally collects die-cast planes - & has a large unbuilt (plastic) kit collection - Yet is unfamiliar with die-cast armour releases.......

Can anyone tell me if ANYONE actually makes a die-cast (or large plastic) scale kit of the A.34 Comet tank, as used in Northern Germany in '44/'45 ???????

Re: A 34 COMET tank ?

Corgi has released an awesome Cruiser Tank A34 Comet MK I 11th Armoured, Germany, 1945 (CC60605) in 1:50, but it's difficult to find since only 1,800 have been made.

Regards,

Sergey

Re: A 34 COMET tank ?

Many thanks on both of those, guy's !

It seems that the A.34 Comet, is an under-represented subject.

I'll keep my eyes out for both.......especially the 1/35th kit, as I have most other (armoured kits) subjects in that scale - mainly Tamiya (including the ancestral Cromwell & Centaur).

I've also been told that the A.F.V.Club M.10 is a decent kit.

Martin Baker, many thanks for the link/review.

Helps to I.D. the box artwork when roaming round large model shops & helps to identify the product..........

Though I'd imagine it would be about as commonplace (NOT) as, say the Trumpeter 1/48 Vickers Wellington Kit ????????

Bronco's Comet

I've just finished with the weathering of this kit and will get pics of that posted soon (I hope). Overall its a great kit, but has some issues. I could not for the life of me figure out how the internal breech assembly and external mantlet were to mate up and work. So I opted to fix it in place.
The kit doesn't provide the much seen mantlet cover, so I made mine from scratch. There are resin updates out there, but I've yet to find them in the states.
Also, the markings for "Iron Duke" are a bit off in size when compared to the real one. The things you discover after the fact. There are markings to match the personal tank mentioned in the instructions.
The instructions take some studying to make sure your building the correct version. Best advice is gather pictures of actual vehicles in use as a guide.

Re: A 34 COMET tank ?

The kit will be heaps easier to get than the Corgi 1/50 version. It took me several weeks to find it, actually I think I bought mine from The Flying Mule after a fruitless eBay search (I didn't think the Mule would have had it). Anyway, it's a sweet model in 1/50 diecast and mine is sitting next to a HM King Tiger, which I think is actually 1/50 scale - or have I mentioned that already somewhere

Re: A 34 COMET tank ?

Its mad cos this model, like nearly all the 1/50 armour, was dumped by Corgi in the UK. Picked mine up for $25 in the local model shop.
