Which Bluenoser, Cripes a Mighty or Petie?

I find myself in a real quandary over which Bluenoser to aquire. I like Petie 3rd but its very hard to get hold off. Cripes a Mighty can be had but I'm not convinced its an alternative for me. Apart from the blue noses both have about 30 victories and could be described as very similar. Still...

I know Perrys does have them but he doesn't seem to want to ship to SA. I've emailed but haven't had a response. What do you guys think? Which one do you prefer and why?

Re: Which Bluenoser, Cripes a Mighty or Petie?

Hi ZS,

I had a similar quandry a few months back - which Blue-Noser??

Once word was out the GMP were out of the diecast aircraft business I knew I had to get one of these before they turned into 'mission impossible'. In the end I grabbed Cripes from an EBay dealer in the US & although I paid close to retail ($139) I have no regrets.

There are two vendors with them (Cripes A Mighty) listed at present but no sign of Petie.

Take it out and play with it

I have them both. You really can't go wrong with either. I like the art work on Petie, but Cripes is a legens as well.

I can take umbrage, I can take the cake, I can take the A-Train, I can take two and call me in the morning, but I cannot take this sitting down. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to take five.

Cripes A Mighty is the best one to have...I like both but Preddy's bird is my favorite.

I think that's what attracts me to Petie, the art work is really cool.

Please tell me why JP? Was it their careers, the men they were? Interesting quote from Meyer referring to Preddy below your post. Is that was its about?

Re: Which Bluenoser, Cripes a Mighty or Petie?

They are both Blue Nosers and therefore both fantastic. I have Petie and would give him my vote. I like the art work of Petie more than Cripes.

Re: Which Bluenoser, Cripes a Mighty or Petie?

For me, Cripes won this battle -- Petie is more visually interesting but I preferred the pilot history of Cripes and the story of how Preddy died is just one of those tragic war stories that have stuck with me. Plus, the immense respect all the top aces seem to hold for Preddy as well.

You can't go wrong either way, and if you're torn -- why not just go with the cheaper, easier to find option which also happens to be Cripes.

I'm with you Pappy. I googled both pilots and get the picture.
