Re: GMP RAF Kittyhawk

I've used Corgi's P51 display stand and it looks great!!

Yeah... this makes sense! I don't have one (anymore), but it would probably fit better than the Hurri stand. Not sure you could bring the gear partially down with this stand though.

Re: GMP RAF Kittyhawk

Having almost fully stocked my Austin and Reno hangers, I am grabbing some more for gifts and investments. My guess is that if you are willing and able to hold on to these birds for about two years or more, the demand will be significant. After all, GMP's P-40E's and P-51D's are the best production die cast birds out there.

KG.....you madman! I just checked GoMotorBids and you've got the GMP market cornered! BTW, my favorite P-40 are the Scott P-40 and the Kittyhawk (awesome desert camo paintjob).

Jim, we'll just have to hope that your bad luck will be limited to the European market. After all both the P-40 and P-51 were made in the U.S. and only one livery is other than home grown.

Keep checking pard--I'm mostly interested in picking up these birds at reasonable prices. Most times I do not end up as the top bidder.

Re: GMP RAF Kittyhawk

I just received my Kittyhawk, and boy oh boy is it a looker. It's number 93 out of 500 and everything is mint!!!!!! It appears as if it had never been taken out of its packaging as all of the tape, tissue paper, and packaging was sealed, dead stock maybe? The box is in mint (which doesn't really matter to me, just as long as the model is). The wires were all there. These GMPs are kind of difficult to get put together, but in the end, it's one sharp looking bird!!

I'll be sure to try and get a P51 made by GMP and possibly the Aleutian Tiger. I'm impressed, too bad they never made a Bf109 .

Just one question to other owners of these models, what is that little clear plastic stick with the blue rubber on the end for?

I'll have pics of it up soon.

I haven't been able to figure out what that is for, myself? Any suggestions out there?

I use it to open the tail wheel doors. On the P-51's I open the main landing gear doors with it too.

Isn't that what the little hook is for? If they provided two different pieces for the same job, isn't that overkill?

The hook is not as strong or as useful for opening items with small gaps. It is best used for pulling the tail wheel out.
