Re: GMP going for nothing on the Bay??

Welcome, David Cotton...your name somehow sounds familiar. Would I have seen your name somewhere previously?

I am a model Hanger member from about a year ago, but I have not posted here for a long time

Thank you. I do have a bit of a thing for the big scale. Was happy collecting the Corgi 1/32 (40 so far) ..... and then some one said " Have you looked at GMP ?"

So, I looked at GMP...... and now I have 6.

I was thinking that might be it, but wasn't sure. Welcome back!

Woah! Are all these actually on display? Or are most in boxes? Are there any pictures?

I have 7 Corgi 1/32s (2 more on the way, including one from forum member Skysurfer808) and 2 GMPs, and I'm running out of space. Granted, I have a lot of other scales as well...

Having said that, this is not preventing me from bidding on a couple more GMPs on e-bay right now.

I have a good selection of them on display, but recently I put a lot into boxes and lofted them. The collection was beginning to get to crowded.
I have doubles or more of the ones I like., 5 Hartmanns, 3 Barkhorns, 3 Lanes, 4 Kiwi, 2 Grumpy, 2 bader, 2 PRF, 3 Green Old crows and 3 BBD......... I only have one each of the Hurricanes.

I did have some photoes that I posted on the Die cast aviation forum a while ago, before I lofted them. I had no GMP then either, all of those I have got since March. I am not keen on aircraft that cannot be displayed in flight (For me, that requires a Pilot ), and this put me off GMP. However, I did some swaps for a G-George Lanc and BoB memorial flight I had spare, and have been hooked ever since.

I will see if I can find the photo......

Excellent! I love large scale myself, but due to space I can only get so many... so 1/48 will remain my preferred scale, I think. Still, I'm expecting "Grumpy" and "Hartmann" in the mail any time now.

But I'm like you, I didn't think much of GMP until recently (my reasons were a bit different: price and "weird" 1/35 scale, for aircraft anyway) but a couple of "good deals" on e-bay have got me hooked now (though even those models have flaws, particularly the P-51s).

Also agree with you I'd like to see a P-47 done in 1/35 or 1/32, either razorback or bubble-top (both would be even better!).

I imagine you are aware, Viper, that 21st Century made a 1:32 P 47. It's all plastic, of course, but I like mine.

Yes I am aware, I even have one ("Angie"). It's OK for the price, but it doesn't compare to metal diecast, and one thing that I particularly don't like is the skinny gear. That just doesn't look right, particularly on a "manly" plane like the Jug. Just my opinion...

Yea, I'm not real happy about the skinny tires either, but I like the rest of it, and for the money.....
