P-51D Mustang "Missouri Armada" 44-14789

Was able to purchase this GMP at a very, very reasonable price MIB.

John Brooke England

Am wondering what others' opinions are of this particular version of GMP's P-51D Mustangs?

I love the GMP Mustangs. This is a cool one as well. I know there is a debate over the antenna wire, but I think GMP got it right. Very cool aircraft as are all of their planes. I think you will enjoy it. I have all of the GMP's.

I can take umbrage, I can take the cake, I can take the A-Train, I can take two and call me in the morning, but I cannot take this sitting down. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to take five.

I have it too and paid about what a nice 1/72 figther is costing now. It's a great model and it fills a void of OD Mustangs I feel. I have this and the Armour Old Crow. Others pale by comparison. Helps me to hold off on the Gemini Berlin Express even though it's a B. Just hard to top this "Stang. I really like the mesh screen on the air intake and the detail in the gear wells.

Leigh-Mallory and his big wings! Might as well stay on the ground for all the use they are!

For the price you get this bird at lately it's a nice model -- it's my least favorite of GMP's Mustangs.. (that antenna mast bugs me, but if I was a modding type of guy it would be ez enough to fix... hmmm... ) but the history behind the plane makes it cool to have. And the OD scheme contrasts nicely with GMP's silver stangs so now you need to get a few of those, too

Question Re: P-51D Mustang "Missouri Armada" 44-14789

I see there are plenty of these on ebay. What's a good price to pay? I've seen them in the $30 range but they always tend to climb a bit.

I have that as well, but it's not my favorite Mustang scheme though it will do for now.

$45-55 seems to be the range, looking at completed auctions on ebay. Think I paid $50 on another auction site a few months ago...

I agree, they make a great model. Though thoroughly debated, IMHO, I believe that it's much better looking and more accurate than Corgi's 1/32nd. Corgi's just looks too fat, like it's retaining water.

One thing that I come to realize, in general and not necessarily in this case, is that if something is correct someone will challenge it's validity. I've learned to gloss over most of the criticism and just enjoy my models. It's too easy to become discontent with a model because of the buzz about a models discrepancy.

I think that's a bit much. I got Dutchess Arlene for $52 or so and I thought that was well worth it. Wouldn't mind a blue nose GMP P51 though.

Really? Considering the original MSRP of $150 seems like a deal to me Don't know how GMP's staying in biz with what seems like most of its aircraft stock being dumped. Heck, even the new 500-prod run releases are getting heavily discounted already.....
