GMP Pacific Diorama

Just was wondering if anyone has their P-40 displayed with the Pacific Diorama? If so what do you think of the Diorama?

I don't have the diorama, but I have seen it displayed and you can't go wrong if you are considering it..

Re: GMP Pacific Diorama

Rockjock below is a picture of mine. I think GMP did a wonderful job making this dio. It is a little heavy and it comes with a small bag of sand. Over all I am satisfied with it.

Keep'em flying.

I concur. A Corsair would simply be perfect for a setting like that!

From what I know GMP is not planning to make any more new models of planes. And my guess is that when their stock is gone they'll be done with the aircraft line. Thats why I'm thinking about picking up a Diorama or two, while I still can.
Thanks for the photo Kirk.

Re: GMP Pacific Diorama

I have thought about it, but I only have Scott's Flying Tiger P-40, and I am not sure "Pacific" really is the correct diorama for this one. Can one find palm trees in Kunming, China?

Not necessarily. I spoke with Jonathan at GMP several weeks ago. While GMP has no current plans for a new aircraft model project, the folks there would like to do another, and a Corsair seems to be the idea kicked around a lot by the staff. It is a matter of revenue and returns; yes, it is uncertain if another project will be undertaken, but a new project is not out of the question. He also told me it takes about 14-18 months to bring a casting to market, once the project is initiated. So... it appears safe to say we will not see another casting in 2008.

I hope the Corsair does come into fruition. I've no doubt whatsover it will be a homerun for GMP!

Re: GMP Pacific Diorama

I have my Longhorn P40 on the Pacific Diorama, and I think it looks very good.

The 2 palm trees are works of art, I could spend all day looking at them.

The down side of the base, is that it is too big. I think GMP needed to reduce the base area by about a third. You can actually squeeze 2 P40's onto the base as it is......I have tried it.

If you have the space to display the base, I would get one for sure. If you have not, spend the money on another P40 .
