Re: GMP Pacific Diorama

I have my Longhorn P40 on the Pacific Diorama, and I think it looks very good.

The 2 palm trees are works of art, I could spend all day looking at them.

The down side of the base, is that it is too big. I think GMP needed to reduce the base area by about a third. You can actually squeeze 2 P40's onto the base as it is......I have tried it.

If you have the space to display the base, I would get one for sure. If you have not, spend the money on another P40 .

What is good about the large base, you can add the 1/35 Minichamps GMC trucks to the diorama

Re: GMP Pacific Diorama

Not necessarily. I spoke with Jonathan at GMP several weeks ago. While GMP has no current plans for a new aircraft model project, the folks there would like to do another, and a Corsair seems to be the idea kicked around a lot by the staff. It is a matter of revenue and returns; yes, it is uncertain if another project will be undertaken, but a new project is not out of the question. He also told me it takes about 14-18 months to bring a casting to market, once the project is initiated. So... it appears safe to say we will not see another casting in 2008.

My money is on GMP being out of the Airplane business. Any takers?
My advice, buy what you can now. They might be a highly sought after collectible in a few years.

Me neither. But, if everyone folows Rock's advice, maybe it will convince GMP that another mold is worth the investment!

I just pulled the trigger for Preddy's Cripes A' Mighty + diorama base from Danbury Mint!!! I shelled out $210 gazonkas for it but since it's a monthly installment thingy...the ouch! factor in the wallet was somewhat lessened a bit!

That's actually not a bad price, fly. Considering that the cheapest I have lately seen Cripes is $150.00; and the cheapest I have seen diorama and cover combined is about $120.00. Oh... did you get the cover also?

Not sure if the cover is included, but no biggy...I like to display mine without it.

Re: GMP Pacific Diorama

I just ordered my Pacific diorama from Aiken's (without cover, I don't like those), $79. I don't remember seeing it any cheaper on e-bay or any other store, though I could be wrong.
