GMP "Swamp"

I recently sent an e-mail with a suggestion that some might like, while others might not. The idea is to make a 1/35th scale model of the "Swamp". The "Swamp" was the tent that the doctors lived in on the show M*A*S*H. As you can tell one of my favorite shows. The GMP attention to detail and small items like having a still, and things like that inside can make this a real collectors item. But there is a liitle for everyone. The tent was a standard tent that was also used in all theatres during WWII and korea. So you can have a version with out the M*AS*H extras like the Sign post and stuff inside, and then you have an awsome display to put with one of your 1/35th scale birds. I was told by GMP that they like the idea. Some may laugh, but remember that the "Swamp" is so historic that the National Museum of American history in Washington, D.C. has it preserved and awaiting a spot to go on display.

I can take umbrage, I can take the cake, I can take the A-Train, I can take two and call me in the morning, but I cannot take this sitting down. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to take five.

Re: GMP "Swamp"

Absolutely spectacular idea. The only stumbling block might be licensing. Great idea MD, thanks for posting!

Re: GMP "Swamp"

Great idea, MD. personally, I smile everytime I see your avatar of Hawkeye. It was a great show, one of my favorites. I do not necessarily have episodes in my memory, per se, but it is impossible for me to see one that I do not remember.

Re: GMP "Swamp"

Thanks. I had not watched the show in years, and then in flight training I got the nickname "Hawkeye" because of my joking when under preasure. I then started watching the re-runs again, saw what people were talling about, and fell in love with the show. I have all 11 seasons on DVD, and personalized signed photos from Sidney Friedman(Allan Arbus) and Hawkeye (Allan Alda). Both sent me great letters. I think it would be so cool to see this made.

Re: GMP "Swamp"

Gotta agree on that, a 1/35 or so Swamp would be a great thing. I grew up on MASH, and my stepfather patterned himself after Colonel Potter, so the show was quite a part of my life.

Oh and FVD, Corgi did a MASH Bell 47 in 1/48.

Yeah, I have that one. Quite good. But I thought one in 1/35 would look cool next to "The Swamp."

Re: GMP "Swamp"

I have that Corgi one as well. I hear it is now a hard item to find. The Swamp would be cool. We will have to wait and see.

Re: GMP "Swamp"

Just an update that this is something that might happen. It seems that GMP liked the idea, or atleas the one guy I talked to did.
