Re: Detailing of GMP models

Also, on the P40, the rear cockpit glass looks like it is flush with the metal. Is this the same on the real thing, or is there a slight gap ? I can't see a reason for the rear glass unless there is a bit of a gap.

David, if you look closely at the model, you can see there is in fact a gap. It may be slightly under-done compared to the real thing, though (it was a pretty narrow gap to start with, in reality).

I am not sure what the silver bits are ment to be, when you remove the top wing panels on the P40. Anyone know ?

Did you mean the silver metal disks located on each corner by the gun-bay cavity - those are 'magnets'.

No, I mean the whole area that is shown when the panels are removed. There does not seem to be much deatil, is this how they would of looked ?

Yes the gun bays are right. The hatch on the underside of the wing exposeses more of the guns.

I've wondered the same thing myself -- even if they are "right" I don't see the point to making those particular panels removable ... there's just nothing interesting to see under there, folks...

True, but the real aircraft functions the same way.
