Just noticed this teaser on Aiken's...

*** LATEST UPDATE 27APR06: EXPECT TO SEE THE F4U CORSAIR SOMETIME EARLY IN 2007, THEN POSSIBLY THE B-25 BOMBER AND P-38 LIGHTNING IN LIMITED PRODUCTIONS IN THE COMING YEARS! ALL IN 1:35 SCALE!!!

(I just saw this on Aiken's GMP page...old news I know.. but...)

I never heard that before (or I am experiencing short-term memory loss) -- too bad it no longer seems to be true, woulda been awesome to see all three of these from GMP! Failing all three, how about any one of 'em!

I get a nasty greedy little smile just thinking about a P-38 from GMP. Oh man, that would be the (help Froggy ) pièce de résistance!

Re: Just noticed this teaser on Aiken's...

This information has been on the page at Aiken's for quite some time. I'm actually beginning to think that both GMP and Carousel 1 may be ending their interest in diecast airplanes. Very few of the GMP models have sold out and I don't think any of the Carousel 1 planes have become unavailable. I suspect that the recent bump in zinc pricing may have led them to retreat into their core automotive markets.

See this thread regarding C1's future plans:

So, what's next for Carousel 1?

C1's president reported to JP that 2 new toolings are done, and that releases will resume in late 2007 or early 2008.

Cool Re: Just noticed this teaser on Aiken's...

Interesting news! I'm very open to the Corsair and the P38 would be very tempting. Gee, I'd love to see these! Let's hope we see them soon.

Sadly, it's an old update ZS... I think the plans for these are dead in the water. My post was just really a wistful "I wish" -- a B-25 in 1:35 would be awesome! As would the other two... We need a good large scale Corsair!

Man I was getting excited about this! What a downer. Bhah! I do agree we need that Corsair. Guess no-one's listening.

I'm with you ZS-VAN on that one! I must admit that the prospect of seeing a Corsair or even a Lightning in 1:35th scale would be quite exciting indeed if it were to happen.

Well... it doesn't have to be GMP. How about 1:32? We could start lobbying Hobby Master...

Yeah...any company is fair game, but since GMP was hinted as being the one to do it so why not start there?
