Pictures of "Old Exterminator"

Does anyone have pictures of Robert Scott's P-40E (the real thing that GMP's model is based on) with the tail number? If so, please post or provide link to web-photos. Thanks.

Re: Pictures of "Old Exterminator"

Thanks Fly!! You are the man!

There is a curious thing about the serial / tail number on this aircraft. In "God is my Co-pilot", Scott is very specific and certain about the P-40E that he kept: 41-1456. I wanted to know which block this aircraft came from so I looked up the serial on Joe Baugher's web-site. The group of serials in which 41-1456 fits belong to Vultee BT-13 Valiants; hence, the aircraft's block number cannot be deduced from the tail number. Did Scott remember the tail number correctly? Did he change it? Is Joe Baugher's information incorrect (very detailed oriented, research based, on the ball man)? Is there another question I am not asking that can help explain this? Can any of you shed light on this puzzling question of mine.

Anyway, I e-mailed Joe Baugher to see if I can get an explanation.

Elmer,

I did a little bit of research tonight with some of the articles I have on Col.Scott's particular P-40 E with serial number 41-1456 mentioned above. I also have a couple of color profile of this
particular mount showing a white "7" and a flying tiger w/a tattered jap flag on it's claws breaking through a Nationalist Chinese flag logo, which he flew with the 23rd Fighter Group in
Burma 1942. Strangly enough, I have the MATCHBOX P-40 E flown by Col.Scott which is similar to the above description but with a serial number 24-5194. He may have indeed flown several P-40 Es which coincidentaly marked with different s/n's and markings.

Keep trying buddy you wont ever regret it. swing over to Ebay US, for us Brits the prices are so good it helps ease the pain of shipping costs.
