The best of the Best

I was curious as to what model from some manufacturers you would say represents the best product made by that manufacturer. It can be only one if you care to keep to the spirit of my thread. It is not a debate but rather an opinion have fun! Here are my votes:
Corgi- Swordfish
Matchbox- Spad
Model Power- Fokker DVII
Witty- F-15
Altaya/IXO- Ki-61 Hein
Hallmark Legends in Flight-Spad
Dinky- A6M Zero
Gaincorp-Su-27
Forces Of Valor-F-14B
NewRay- Augusta/Westland Cormorant
Hobbymaster-SBD
Franklin Mint/Armour-F-4
Dragon-P-51D

Re: The best of the Best

I would have to say GMP P-40's and P-51's, Eagles International, and Carousel.

I can take umbrage, I can take the cake, I can take the A-Train, I can take two and call me in the morning, but I cannot take this sitting down. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to take five.

Re: The best of the Best

Dragon - P-51D (redundant but it is what it is)
Corgi - Swordfish - until yesterday I would have said Stuka but I received the first Swordfish yesterday so...
HM - SBD
GMP - P-40
GA - Spit

Re: The best of the Best

This should be a fun thread.

Corgi - P40 (Followed [i]really[i] closely by the Gladiator. I don't own a Swordfish yet so I can't comment) - Yeah, there are 4 million P-40's on the market right now and some of the schemes are dull, but it's a pretty plane and Hell, I just love P-40's. If only Corgi moulds were flexable enough to give us a B/C and N or even F model instead of a steady stream of E's. My personal favorite/s would be both the Flying Tiger planes. (Martin's and the regular edition.)

Dragon - P-51 No big surprise, huh? I wonder if the mould broke? I can't fathom why they cut both the F-16 (A close second.) and this model which are both great.

Matchbox - I only own a couple but I'm really fond of the F-100. The Spad and Fokker I have are also extra nice.

F.O.V. - Can I pick a tank? Are there rules here? I'm going with the SU-122. The winter livery is nice and who else will do one?

Hobby Master - Dauntless, Dauntless and Dauntless. The little place that could. That Lexington pre-war scheme cannot be beat.

Gemini - P-51B This thing looks beautiful parked next to my Corgi B-25 bomber. Maybe if we ask nicely and are extra sweet, we'll get an A-36 Invader outfitted with bombs and rockets?

Re: The best of the Best

My $.02:

Corgi: B-25
Dragon: P-51D, followed closely by the T-bolt!
IXO: George/I-16
MB: P-38
HM: SBD
Gemini: Spitfire!!!!!!!!!!
Gaincorp: Su-34
Witty: F-16
Armour/FM: A-10

The worst -- to spice it up a bit :

Corgi: P-51D
Dragon: Corsair/109
IXO: UHU
MB: Mig-15
HM: too early to tell
Gemini: P-51B (still nice though!)
Witty: Spit (slipper tank and cockpit issues)
Armour/FM: Corsair

Re: The best of the Best

I'm very discriminating collector looking for every little detail and finding a model that pleases me is hard.

In my opinion, the best 1:72 scale die cast planes are:

DRAGON WINGS
  • P-51D
  • F-18
CORGI
  • F-4 Phantom
  • B-25
  • UH-60 Blackhawk
  • Swordfish
  • Gladiator
  • BAe Lightning
  • Panavia Tornado (expecially the TIGER MEET release)
  • Chinook
  • F-86 Sabre
  • Avro Lancaster
  • B-24
  • B-17
  • HE 111
  • Vickers Wellington
  • PBY Catalina
HOBBY MASTER
  • JU-87 Stuka
  • MIG 21
  • SBD Dauntless
GAINCORP
  • SU-33 Sea Flanker (folding wings)
  • F-22
  • SU-47 Berkut
GEMINI ACES
  • P-51B
  • Spitfire
  • Me 109
WITTY WINGS
  • SU-27
  • F-14 (if the front canopy would've been finished)
  • F-15 (single and 2 seater version)
  • F-16 (single and 2 seater version)
Does anybody disagree with this list?
