Re: Any Gamers Here?

I play all kinds of pc games, mainly First Person Shooters. Call of Duty 2 is my favorite WWII shooter at the moment. .

You should consider Brothers in Arms. What makes it unique is [1] recreated battle events and [2] You not only control yourself but your squad of a fire team and an asualt team.

They've taken streets and buildings from the towns in France and recreated them

Re: Any Gamers Here?

I have most of the combat flight sims as well as Fs2003, but I also have a PS2. Have you guys played Heroes of the Pacific yet. It is pretty cool. What kind of planes can you fly on balzing angels?

I can take umbrage, I can take the cake, I can take the A-Train, I can take two and call me in the morning, but I cannot take this sitting down. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to take five.

Re: Any Gamers Here?

Latest would be Call of Duty 2, like the whole series actually, play Russian, American, and British. The Medal of Honour Series also, still have to beat Pacific Assault. Can't seem to get through the aerial stage. Battlefield 1942 is good fun online, not a serious game just running around killing people and stirring up trouble , call sign Drunken Canadian. Someone mentioned Day of Defeat that was a good online one to, haven't played in awhile though. For fun aerial combat play Crimson Skies, also mess around with Janes WWII Fighters and IL 2.

Re: Any Gamers Here?

I've played through all of Combat Flight Sim. 2 and 3. Recently got Battle of Britiain II, but have hardly had a chance to play it yet.

Besides the CFS games, I'm mostly into RPG games - some faves are ye old Baldur's Gate, Neverwinter Nights and Dungeon Seige. I've also done Diablo II way back. Just recently discovered Morrowind and will get to play that sometime soon. Looking forward to Oblivion, Dungeon Seige II and coming out by the end of October : Neverwinter Nights 2! Weee!

Re: Any Gamers Here?

Looking forward to Oblivion,

You're going to get hooked on Oblivion! It's unbelievable. You can play it forever and never play it the same way twice!

Re: Any Gamers Here?

As far as WWII FPS go, I can't speak highly enough about Red Orchestra. I used to like COD but got sick of the online antics (immature players, running and gunning, that god d#mn STG 44.) RO changed all of that and the online community is great. The game tries to be as realistic as a game can be, no healthpacks or crosshairs, limited amount of weapons per side (1 or 2 MGs, 2-3 SMGs, 1 sniper, 1 sqd leader, everyone else rifleman). One warning, the learning curve is steep. It is so radically different from other FPS games the first hour or so everyone's reaction is to hate it, but once you get the hang of it, it'll grow on you.

Company of Heroes, huh? I'll have to look into it. From the commercials it looked kinda jokey but the reviews have been positive. Is it similar to Close Combat?

It's not as realistic as CC, and it's much more cinematic and fast-paced. It's pretty much a traditional RTS, but the combat is non-stop and the pyrotechnics are awesome

If you're a sticker for historical accuracy, you may not like the Normandy breakout mission in which you have control of a Pershing tank to help take out a troublesome Tiger

It's the most fun I've had with an RTS in years, and I've pretty much played just about all of 'em.

Re: Any Gamers Here?

Sorry, from the look of things on the RO forums it sounds like that was a one time deal. I bought it through Steam, www.steampowered.com, where it is $24.95. It was very easy to do and you'll never bother with CDs again. Whatever computer you are on you can login to your Steam account and download the game. There are no monthly subscription fees, just the one time $24.95, and the developer has been continously releasing updates and new maps. I found this bit of news on the red orchestra site about the next free update:
This time the action remains on the Eastern Front, as "Carpathian Crosses" is announced and will bring the Romanians to the battlefield. This will bring in the next-largest army for the Eastern Front, along with some weaponry that people are not normally familiar with - just check out their R35 tank! The first models look superb and we are really happy to welcome this addition to the Red Orchestra family.
