Strangeplanes

I was just pondering Flaps post about Ixo doing rare types, I wonder if a manufacturer would find it profitable to do a range called the worlds strangest aircraft. Types like the Ascender ,HP Manx tail-less monoplane,JU287 ,Miles Tandem Wing ,Miles M-35 ,Mayo and the Mistel combis ,Saab single seat fighter 21A ,Vultee XP-54 ,Eshalman FW5 , General Airborne XCG16A , Oh and that one that Blohm und Voss made, the one where the pilot sat in a greenhouse built out on the wing!! I am sure you chaps could come up with many more. They would certainly be conversation pieces for any collection. What do you all think?

Bring em' on! The stranger the better. Blohm & Voss seemed to specialize in odd-ball designs. Model Power is supposed to make a Mistal of some sort. But it will be on the small-side (especially w/2 planes piggy-backed!)I'd really like to see some sea-planes.

How about the B&V 222? Or the DO24?

Now you're talking. What do these things have, about 6 engines apiece? Sounds like there are 2 sold already!

Considering production costs of diecast molds and (probably) less-than-spectacular returns from unconventional (make that freakish) warbirds, our prospects of seeing a Blohm & Voss wacky put-put are about as good as a snowball’s chance in ... um ... in a very hot place.

To quote "Oddball" in Kelley's Heroes. "Always with the negative waves Moriarty" You gotta believe.

Thats my point Gort, Would the very wackyness of these types attract general sales to the public at large? I wonder. But then if it was my money involved in making them HMmmmm! I know I would buy them but I am an addict beyond all hope of a cure. But thats the fault of you chaps!! ps Kellys Heroes, great movie.............................................[ QUOTE=Gort;728]Considering production costs of diecast molds and (probably) less-than-spectacular returns from unconventional (make that freakish) warbirds, our prospects of seeing a Blohm & Voss wacky put-put are about as good as a snowball’s chance in ... um ... in a very hot place. Bv222

6 engines with 157 foot wingspan. Length of 105 foot. and all up weight of 101.000lbs. Now a model of that would certainly have good "Heft". the 238 had a span of 197 foot and all up weight of 198.000lbs.

I just googled it(B&V 222) a while ago. There is a really excellent Revell model article. You might want to check it out.
