Help with Storage

Guys if anyone can give me info I would really appreciate it. I want to buy 8 Ikea Detolf storage units to display my models. I think it was Mr. Horrido who has them and I am interested how he put them together as a unit and what did he do with the shelves did he have bigger glass shelves cut or did he just use all the small ones. These individual units are only 16 3/4" wide so i have to buy so many but i also would like them to look more like a larger unit. Any pictures would be helpful. I think he said he did some welding any info on this? Thanks for the help,
Louie

I have two that are butted together. Another poster in MH1 had extra rods welded in and glass cut thereby doubling or tripling his space. When put side by side they really do look a lot like one unit. I am quite happy with mine and might eventually try the welding trick to get more space. Personally, I would at the most divide what I have in two, the photos I saw that tripled the space just looked a little too cramped for my taste ... but to each their own.

Hey its the H man glad you made it over.
The last time I was at Ikea I noticed that they had a different unit that was a wood frame, not finished. Same dimensions as the detolf. Look like it would be dead easy to add extra shelves, which were made of glass. The only thing I didn't like was that the door did not fit very tightly at all, so you would still be doing lots of dusting.

Hey Horrido you're alive!!! It has been a long long time my friend. I hope you and yours are well and enjoying life. I am curious did you weld at least a couple of units together side by side and just remove the side glass panels? Do you think I could perhaps just bolt a couple of these together? If you could include a couple of more pictures I would be most appreciative. So nice to see you again and hope you will stick around this time your wit and humor were sorely missed.

Horrido made it! Great news. Welcome.

I got two of those Detolfs and have yet to add shelves. I like being able to

have some space so I can see down on the models some.

The side glass panels are kind of an integral part of the unit. I do not believe that removing them is doable.
