V-J Day, 1945

I see by my trusty calender that today is the anniversary of V-J Day. Yesterday, September 1 marked the start of WWII in 1939. Six years & one day total. A lot happened during those six years. Some of it is covered here on a daily basis.

Happy VJ Day guys. May the sacrifices of those men never be forgotten.

I can take umbrage, I can take the cake, I can take the A-Train, I can take two and call me in the morning, but I cannot take this sitting down. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to take five.

Re: V-J Day, 1945

I was fortunate enough to be involved in the 60th commemoration of VJ Day aboard USS Missouri last year -- it was a humbling experience. I don't know that I agree with calling any generation "greatest," but they served extraordinarily in extraordinary times. We shall not see their like again.

It makes you think a little. What sort of world would we live in but for those brave boys. A world ruled by Nazi Germany and an Evil and cruel Japan. It makes me shudder. We owe those guys more than we can ever repay.

Well said. We owe them a debt that can never be repaid.

Well said, Jim. Amen to that.
