Thats why I build my own. And this case I do have some German and Soviet armor. But far more Shermans than not.

Re: Note to Manufacturers: No Swastika, No Sale!

In the process of putting some swastikas on the rudder of a Dragon Bf 109E this afternoon. I now am up to 15 Bf 109Es between my Corgi and Dragon models.

Brewster Buffalo, Hawk 75A, Fokker D.XXI, Polikarpov I-16, Fiat G.50, Macchi C. 200, PZL P.11c, Fieseler Fi 156 Storch ,,,, now those are real planes.

Re: Note to Manufacturers: No Swastika, No Sale!

After just a little bit of work, I have another properly marked Bf 109E added to my collection. I just cannot see passing up on some of these because of a missing decal, especially when it can easily and fairly inexpensively be corrected.

Re: Note to Manufacturers: No Swastika, No Sale!

And now for something completely different . . .

You guys may think this is weird, BUT -- I won't have any diecast in this house that represents the Axis. Swazi or not. So those wonderful He-111s that I do admire? Verboten! Just a silly little thing of mine. It has nothing to do with anything except I find that stuff ghastly to have on display. No -- my Finnish background hasn't anything to do with it (you all know what was on THOSE planes!) It is just a quirk that I've been happy to live with for the last 40 years.

That leaves me with the RAF and RCAF to collect, which is just fine with me. No American planes you say? Well, I'd be broke inside a week if I started collecting all those stunning examples too! I mean -- who doesn't love a B-17 or Brewster Buffalo or P-40B or P-51B or Catalina? I sure as heck do, but regrettably, I have to draw the line somewhere -- this year anyhow(!)

No Axis diecast here. Period. JPN

J.P.N, I'm impressed mate (= VERY) !!!!!!!!!

If you can limit your collection, it's neater AND more cost-effective (unlike un-disciplined me !)

BTW, even more impressed with your 'new' Friday The 13th nose-art 'Avatar'

Jeepers I would've never know. What did that cost you? 15 cents and 10 minutes?

And since were talking about markings.

I'm still working the details out to remark a Hellcat so that I can have the tri-colored bird with red outlined insignia.

But I'm not calling for a boycott because it hasn't been done yet?

Enjoy, Shawn.......

Pix a bit fuzzy, but it's in answer to you're quote, above !!!!!!!

James Flatley's 'CAG - 00', in 1/48th scale (in die-cast)

Thanks but I'm a 1/72nd guy. I have its little brother from Dragon. I've seen that one before and have been tempted, but if I go that scale I will be in the doghouse even more so. I think one of the HM birds would do nicely for the conversion. No rush though, I have hope that maybe one day. Its an option HM hasn't done yet despite their odd rules about already doing 3 tone Hellcats.

Yep, I figure it runs between 10 and 15 cents to decal a model and just as you put it, 10 minutes worth of work.

Well, I guess it is just my nature, given our living quarters. I've often mentioned to my wife this place we live in is smaller than a submarine! Some days though, I fight the urges just like you guys -- and if I was living in this place myself, I'd have an enormous collection that would include all the U.S. bombers and fighters I lust over as well as more bombers in my RAF collection -- not to mention Coastal Command. (*sigh*) I am destined to pick and choose (plus rotate groupings) carefully.

BTW, even more impressed with your 'new' Friday The 13th nose-art 'Avatar'

Thank you very much! I actually am looking into having a black t-shirt of that done up for another aviation-related purpose. I can't wait for the day (hopefully soon?) where I get an email from Merritec informing me of this bombers arrival! I trust I'm not alone.
