Re: Movies and models and bouncing bombs!

I could be incorrect, but I do not think there is a snowball's chance in Hades that they will keep the correct name for the dog.

Re: Movies and models and bouncing bombs!

Why don't they just change it to a white dog and name it "Wigger"?........I won't mind.

Re: Movies and models and bouncing bombs!

This movie is meant to be a mass-consumption item.

there will be fewer viewers that care about historical accuracy than

viewers who just want to be entertained for a few hours.

For the VERY reasons (highlighted), you have stated above, LET 'EM GO

SEE....... James Bond - The Wizard of Oz - Pinnochio - Santa Claus, or

some other suchlike B.S.

Personally speaking, I hope & pray that this RE-MAKE never comes off.

" mass consumption " (McDonald's style) for " viewers that just want

to be entertained for a few hours ".

I don't view or see this 'Story'-(historical event) as something frivolous.

The original is plenty good enough, with GREAT actors, who portray their characters supremely well, as they themselves lived through W.W.II ITSELF.........

Richard Todd (= Guy Gibson in the original 1955 film) was a genuine British Paratrooper (officer) in the 6th Airborne Division.......& ACTUALLY TOOK PART IN THE D-DAY LANDINGS = BEING ONE OF THE FIRST OFFICERS, TO LAND ON PEGASUS BRIDGE, in France, in the early hours/darkness of 6th June '44.

Hollywood artistic licence, usually ruins authenticity; what makes anyone think that this will be any different ????????

Look at the laughable (untrue as U like) 'events/happenings', on 'Memphis Belle's' 25th & last mission, in the 1990 film directed by David Puttnam.

The thought of it makes me Gag - 617 DESERVE better respect.

Why don't we just use a fleet of Boeing 747's, dropping marsh-mallows, & be done with realism for the popcorn chewing masses ???????

Re: Movies and models and bouncing bombs!

Hi, Guy(s),

Love the dog, Jim. What the hell has it got on its ears?

I agree with all of you that the dog has to be dropped, or changed to a gerbil.

" OK, Mutt, yer outada picture! Ya'v caused too much hassle mit der great movie-going publik ' out dare' "

Many valid reasons to generate the above scenario have come to the fore re that bloody dog.

Above all, kids watching the movie might think that if it's in a movie then it's gotta be ok to use that word in another context.

Well, .......

....it's only a little change.

Now what could they change 'Barnes Wallis' to? The setting?

Worry less, Hornchurch, I'm sure that Hollywood will let PJ have his own way. He'd get lynched in NZ if he deviated too much from the history and besides, The Dark Forces would rise from Middle Earth and avenge us all!

Re: Movies and models and bouncing bombs!

Dear Jim,

Your dog reminds me of another David Lean film :

" Brief Encounter"
( Well, what d'ya expect at 11.07 at night after a very, very hard day's work? )

Re: Movies and models and bouncing bombs!

I think everyone should try a relax a bit and show some pragmatism. The Dambusters will most likely be an exceptional movie given Peter Jackson's understanding and appreciation of history and reputation as a filmmaker .

This movie will undoubtedly be done in good taste and will educate many on the heroism and sacrifices that have been made by many in the course of history. In so doing it will definitely have a positive impact on society (and our hobby) even if pragmatism is the order of the day with regard to the dog's name. I find it sad and indeed churlish that many would like to trash what may be a great movie because of something so trivial when looked at in the greater context of what the movie is all about - don't throw out the baby with the bathwater .

One sheep to rule them all ...
