| Hollywood Aviation Films:Your favorites? Anybody here into the military aviation themed films from Hollywood? Do you enjoy viewing your favorite warbird(s) in a particular setting or environment at which these venerable warplanes are portrayed in their elements, or do you just enjoy them simply because you like the story and the aerial warfare aspects of the film. Let's hear your thoughts? Let's see some of your favorites here, so I'll start with mine. It can be from any era, btw. WWI: Wings, Hells Angels, Dawn Patrol, Blue Max, Flyboys Pre-War or the Barnstorming Days: The Great Waldo Pepper, Dive Bomber WWII - ETO, MTO, PTO: 12 O'Clock High, War Lover, The Dambusters, 30 Seconds Over Tokyo, Fighter Squadron, Flying Leathernecks, A Wing and a Prayer, Battle of Midway, and of course - Battle Of Britain Tora Tora Tora, Task Force, Flying Tigers, God Is My Co-Pilot Korean War: The Hunters, The Bridges At Toki Ri, Men of the Fighting Lady, Battle Hym, McConnel Story Cold War: Thirteen Days (this movie I highly recommend especially if you want to see F-8 Crusaders, U-2 etc.) Vietnam War: Flight of the Intruder, Bat 21, Apocalypse Now Modern (not necesarily in any conflict): The Final Countdown, TOP GUN (Both the best F-14 movies to ever grace the celluloid) | ||||||||||||||

| Re: Hollywood Aviation Films:Your favorites? I tend to enjoy vintage movies most: 12 O'Clock High (1949, kinda vintage) The Flying Tigers (1942) The First of the Few (1942) aka "Spitfire" Wake Island (1942) Midway (1976) is good but accuracy and continuity are a bit shoddy. | ||||||||||||||

| Re: Hollywood Aviation Films:Your favorites? I have to say, Top Gun is probably my favorite, then Midway, then Battle of Britain... then maybe the Aviator. After those, it's hard to remember another aviation film that I really enjoyed. | ||||||||||||||

I agree with Mikey, and for WW I I love The Blue Max, and Richthofen and Brown. The latter is very poor history, but has some great aircraft and flying scenes. | |||||||||||||||

| Re: Hollywood Aviation Films:Your favorites? Midway is a bit cheezy for me but the planes are cool. Hal Holbrook drives me off the deep end. I swear, one more whiney word out of his.... I did think the flight scenes in Pearl Harbor were great! Just don't look too close or think. | ||||||||||||||

| Re: Hollywood Aviation Films:Your favorites? You know i put in Pearl Harbor just to watch it for fun this afternoon at work because it was so darn boring today and that's the only movie we had in the office. You know that is the only movie that has the Doolittle Raiders in it...Since "30 seconds over Tokyo". I thought that was kinda neat. | ||||||||||||||

| I have just been looking through my DVD collection & have the following: Tora Tora Tora, Top Gun, The Final Countdown, The Blue Max, The Battle of Britain, The Dambusters, Bomber Harris & Pearl Harbor. Discs to get are Reach for the Sky, The Sound Barrier, The First of the Few & I am hoping for a DVD release of a quirky 1950s British film called Conflict of Wings. | ||||||||||||||
