Can't let go!

Anybody else out there that just can't bring themselves to sell or trade anything in their collection? I have more than a few items that I've picked up over the years that I either don't have the room to display or I am no longer thrilled with. Problem is, I can't bear to let them go because I have a feeling I will regret it someday.

Anybody?

Re: Can't let go!

You are not alone Raven...
I let go some of my prized 1:72nd scale bombers and fighter just last week because i was running out of room and also
sticking with the 1:48 line that i used to collect..
All i can say is ...When you have the will to let it go try to remember that another collector will take good care of her
and enjoy her just as you once did.

Re: Can't let go!

I feel I have way to many Corsairs (not even a favorite), 262s and Me109s than is necessary, but cannot part with them. However, that sentiment only goes so far as an offer than I couldn't refuse - know what I mean?

Re: Can't let go!

I have found that once I reached a certain point, I had more stuff than I wanted, and was very tempted to chuck the whole shootin' match. I slept on it, got rid of a fair quantity of planes (about a quarter of my collection), and felt better about the whole thing. I have sentimental favourites that I would never sell or give away, but most of my models I could and would get rid of if it was necessary.

I'll likely never get rid of any of my models (or else it would have to be at some pretty astronomical prices), unless it is to give to someone (which I have done a couple of times).

I am having just such a dilema at present, I have over 200 1:76 scale buses & around 50 1:50 scale trucks in the loft & they must go to finance my ever growing aircraft collection but I can not bring myself to part with a single item, but with models like the Halifax & Ju52 due out shortly I simply have to bite the bullet.

Re: Can't let go!

Hm...

Currently I have approximately 120 Armour models in 1:48.

There are serveral (about 10) which I intend to sell.

But on the other hand, I have many models I would not sell unless the price is way high or I would need the money desperately.

So in a way I can't let go, too!

Re: Can't let go!

That is perhaps largely true for me, but I did trade one aircraft, would not rule out letting something go again. I do have an extra, unopened Legands P51. Skunky?

Rav, among a hunk of models I sold last year, I let go of five Corgi Lancasters. Today I could kick myself (no ... make that shoot myself).

I’m a wiser robot these days: Unless it’s a duplicate or something I absolutely know I can chuck, I hold on to my models for dear life.

Re: Can't let go!

I've let go of one, just one, model. Because I needed some shelf space.
