I didn't know that eBay did this...

Posted by miscmini on the theminiaturespage.com
I just finished some 1/144 Eduard models (three FW-190Fs and six Ju-87Rs) and posted them on eBay. Yes, I put all the decals on the models to include the swastikas on the tails. Et voila, less than three hours later eBay terminates the auctions and sends me a couple of nasty grams letting me know that I've been bad. It seems that my models are offensive (I think they're pretty spiffy).

Anybody else out there run into this problem before? Anybody else run into this problem and come out victorious (ie. get to post the auctions again)?
I need some help because I can't have these FW-190s and Stukas laying waste to my production line and I can't afford the time to work on any small scale AA batteries to defend my basement workshop.

Has anyone here ever encountered this problem with ebay?

yes I have a couple of times. Never put the word swastika in an ad they have a search bot that looks for this and ends your listing. They are the true Nazis! On the other hand i have sold many many planes with swazis keep trying it is random.

I never had the problem with them...But with the swazi markings you might want to mark it out a little.
I have seen swazi's on there before and nothing happeneds but if you have a photoshop you should be ok to change it a little .
Don't use the swazi word in your description either and relist it with a new touched up photo.

Admin:

Try blurring the offending decals with your photoshop program. That should make the pics ebay acceptable.

Re: I didn't know that eBay did this...

Ebay are aware that it is an offence to display a swastika in public in Germany. This was law under the Federal West German regime and as their laws supercede East German laws, they carry through.

Because of this law history has to be modified and as a result of this you will not find any decals with a swastika in any model kits marketed in Europe. Even the famous DAK symbol has been reduced to a floating palm tree! ( floating over the space where the swastika has been zapped! )

When I was a kid all the Airfix models had the requisite swastikas on the decal sheet and it didn't turn me into a nazi!

Still, policy is policy, and political correctness is the order of the day. I can understand why the symbol is anathema to many, so I guess that this piece of protectionist revisionism must be upheld.

Re: I didn't know that eBay did this...

Yes Admin, I have had some auctions pulled in the past by the 'ebay police' myself. I was selling some German WWII medals back around 2000. A few years later I saw some medals listed with the swazis and reported it to the 'ebay police' myself and they let the auctions run to the end. Don't know what is up with that, not fair. The ONLY auctions that they allow now and won't be pulled are the German coins and stamps of WWII. All of these have the eagle with the swazi.

That truly saddens me. I realize why eBay is nervous about trafficking in "Nazi Paraphenalia", but no one seems to worry about how stupid we are getting culturally when we do something like this.

The PC folks got to them. "Oh, Tommy...you can't buy that Corgi FW-190...there is a swasika on the tail!" "Go buy that PS3 game you wanted instead, GRAND THEFT AUTO......"
