1/48 scale IL2 Sturmovik

Given the discussion on other threads regarding the need for good quality Soviet 1/48 scale aircraft, I'm posting a poll on whether or not you would buy a die-cast version of the iconic IL2 Sturmovik (in 1/48).

Hopefully, some manufacturers such as Hobby Master, Carousel 1, Franklin Mint and Eagles International may take some notice ...

If Franklin Mint made one, I'd definitely get it.

Hell yes, sign me a up for single seater, two seater, and IL-10 to boot as long as it's of Carousel 1 quality.

Regards,

Sergey

Yes--I've been waiting on one for a long time.

I hope that Carousel 1 jumps on it first.

IXO's parent already has a 1:72 version available in Europe, but not yet here in the US. I would like to see a 1:72 version as well.

Re: 1/48 scale IL2 Sturmovik

Card, I voted "no". I know you would love to convince me to get into this scale, but I'm digging my heels in!

However, an IL-10 in 1:72 would be another matter - I'd purchase without thinking twice!

Re: 1/48 scale IL2 Sturmovik

My reservation, to SUCH an important W.W.II a/c would be the quality of the mould & shape in general.

It's gonna be trouble enough, getting the fuselage right.......BUT then.......

Whoever makes one, will have to pay PARTICULAR attention to the MAJOR differences of the mid-to-outer wing sections & the leading edges

As a general rule - the early-mid war Single seaters had a MUCH straighter leading edge........
as opposed to the Twin seat IL-2m3's swept back/angled leading edge........

The wings of each version being NOTICABLY different.

I've got both versions (in 1/48th) in plastic kit form, by (the superb) Accurate Miniatures firm.

Check a comparitive PLANFORM view from above (of BOTH versions), & see for yourselves ?????????

Re: 1/48 scale IL2 Sturmovik

I voted "perhaps", but "probably no" would be more accurate. What I REALLY want is a 1:72 scale, that I would definitely buy!

Re: 1/48 scale IL2 Sturmovik

1/48 is my scale, you can count me in for sure (assuming good quality for the money).
