1/18th scale aircraft

I have to say that I was never huge into the 1/18th scale stuff. I always thought that there were toy like. Then last night my BBI F4U Corsair Marine's Dream arrived. It has totally changed my view on that. IT is one of the coolest models I have seen. THe detail work is amazing. Is it me, or is this one awsome model?

I can take umbrage, I can take the cake, I can take the A-Train, I can take two and call me in the morning, but I cannot take this sitting down. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to take five.

Re: 1/18th scale aircraft

No it's not just you.
I have been telling collectors a few years now just how well detailed they are.
You have seen my collection already and i love them and you can't get just one either .
Only real problem you will have is finding the room to show them off.
The Corsairs & TBM's have folding wings which gives you a chance to put it on a top shelves or something.
The 1/18 scale market has come a long way since they first started a few years back. These really do look nice and just wait this year Admiral will come out with a SBD , Skyraider, F4 Phantom and BBI will have a Hellcat also 21ST Century Toys just announced they will also be coming out with a F4 Phantom as well. This is going to be a great year for the 1/18 collectors.

Re: 1/18th scale aircraft

But where the hell do you put all this stuff.

I would love to get some really big planes (esp the upcomming F4), but have enough problems storing and displaying 1/72 and 1/32. My biggest planes the corgi mossies are stuck in a box as I have nowhere to put them.

Hang them up .....I agree the F4 Phantom is going to be a big seller.

Re: 1/18th scale aircraft

I have around 5+ planes and I love them!!! Along with everyone else though is the space problem.. I don't have a den and I don't think the wifey would go for an Avenger hanging above our bed..

See now I view this differently. I wouldn't think an Avenger would like a woman in the room.

We had a hanging Avenger in the bedroom once. But flung bras and arresting hooks do not make for a stable combination.

Hi Mustang,
After awhile you'll become "quite" creative with ways to display these larger aircraft. I lost out on some good models because I did to think these were too Toyish. I remember seeing the FA-18 BlueAngel but I over looked it for a Motorworks Super Cobra Now I just have to wait until someone doesn't like theirs any more. As Starman "says" This is a great time to collect 1:18th scale. I'd add the Corsair is an impressive model to look at mine came with wing stays to keep them from floppin around. The more kids that get these models the better our values increase....
