Moratorium on new purchases

With so many upcoming models for 2007. I have gotten to the point where almost every thing I see I want it for my collection. As all my models are in my bedroom. space is at a premium. So taking stock of the situation is paramount. I have taken delivery of 4 models this month with 8 more on the way. My model count is around 210. My choices now have to be limited and I'm now about to obsolete my credit card until I can conjure up more space. How many fellow forum nuts are in the same boat.? Re: Moratorium on new purchases

Funny enough, I've just finished a post (No# 13, Corgi Ju.88 'Wasted Opportunity') remarking on the similar/same point, & referring to the word 'avalanche', regarding the massive quantity of different model/schemes that have been launched in such a short 'calendar' space, in recent times.

Guess most of us are in the same boat, re; wants/wishes, & financial outlay, not to mention space.

I've had countless rows, with my wife, over "not another big-box, you don't NEED them "......."why can't you collect bloody stamps, or other **** like that ??? "

(Me) "Oh, I'll go & blow it on gambling or drugs & drink, if you like ???"

THAT usually shuts her up, but it does take up lot'sa-room, especially with two teenage kids in the house, too.

Well the Halifaxes & Catalina's are coming in, like it or not, (plus the odd Lancaster, Wellington & B.17 ).

Just having to be increasingly selective, but I'd imagine figuritively, we're all (forumites) in the same/similar boat - NO ????

I'm running into the same issue. I just bought new shelves for my case and it's to the point beyond a certain size plane on some of the shelves wont even fit...

Re: Moratorium on new purchases

I feel your pain. For example - I waited for a year and a half for a MiG-21 to come out, now there are about 7 really nice ones on the market. The diecast world is exploding with great offerings. Right before I read your post, I put one on myself asking about the affects of moving some models into my non-climate-controlled garage. Any advice on that?

Re: Moratorium on new purchases

I have reached just about my breaking point. Display space is at a premium and I too have several models en route or on PO.

So does one sell or rotate? That is where I'm at now.

Thankfully the old model catch-up has is pretty much over. Of the truely desireable Corgis, only the PO-S Lanc and Al Deere Spits evade me and I have Deere in 32nd so....

But, the new models are a problem and one I love to have.

Re: Moratorium on new purchases

It's a common problem I think -- as my signature states ;-)

I FINALLY got around to actually going through my collection with the intent of selling off some of my older models that I haven't displayed or looked at for a long time now... I took all my storage bins outta the closet and culled through them all, pulling a respectible pile of "for sale" fodder out.

Then as I started going through the pile to figure out what to ask for them, I realized "hey, this model's really cool, I should display it for a while before selling it..." and so on, and so on... And my logic turned to "well, I won't get nearly what I paid for it, so why not hang onto it"...

Suddenly my "for sale" pile isn't nearly as impressive

Re: Moratorium on new purchases

My space is tight, but it really is not a problem as I cannot afford to buy more diecast anyway!
