Flyboys

I just saw previews for this new movie called "Flyboys" that is opening on September 22nd. Has anyone seen or know anything about it? I'm not a big WWI enthusiast, but I've got to admit that the special effects and flying scenes look totally awesome.

Re: Flyboys

They had a special viewing of it at Oshkosh this year. I did not see it, but I did see alot of the proprs they used for the movie, including three full size flying replicas of WWI aircraft. Very impressive. I am looking forward to seeing it. There is another one called Thunder Over Reno that is shooting right now.

I can take umbrage, I can take the cake, I can take the A-Train, I can take two and call me in the morning, but I cannot take this sitting down. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to take five.

Re: Flyboys

I do not normally go see a first run movie, usually wait till they hit the second run theaters (do not see that many movies anyway), but I am DEFINITELY making an exception with this one, can't wait!

Cute Flyboy, real cute!

The flying scenes remind me of the movie "Memphis Belle" in that there is some of the same action and computer generated fighting scenes. Should be a good movie - definitely not a "chick" flick. I'm going to see it too.

Re: Flyboys

Hey Captain Eddie,
If you live anywhere near Columbus, Ohio do yourself a favour and go see Flyboys at the Arena Grand downtown. There is no better place to see movies in Central Ohio. My wife and I are both huge movie fans and often make the trip to Columbus just to see movies at the Grand.

Re: Flyboys

Not to put a damper on anyone's spirits, but I've heard from a number who've seen it at advance screenings that this is a Great War "Pearl Harbor" with Fokkers that sound like P-47s, Nieuports with the rate of climb of an F-15 and a Zeppelin that fills the role of the Death Star. Apparently, every possible aviation and WWI cliche has been recycled. I had high hopes for this one given the early reports, but sure sounds like they've turned it into a CGI cheese-fest. Why they couldn't do a real movie about the Lafayette Esquadrille is baffling.
