Die-cast event of the year

On another thread I indicated that I thought that the die-cast event of the year was the upcoming release of the Gemini Aces WWII warbird range . I then remembered that Hobby Master has also made quite a considerable impact as have some other events, hence the poll .

Re: Die-cast event of the year

My vote is for other as I think the big event is going to be the release of the 3 P-38's by Corgi. I know most of us are drooling in anticipation of the release dates!

Re: Die-cast event of the year

IMHO I have to award Hobby Master with the prize. The Mig-21 is the one that Shocked and Awed me this year.

Re: Die-cast event of the year

I think it's too early to make the call myself, I think this poll should be posted again On Jan 1

I don't think we can include the MH and MH II events, as they're not really diecast events, but rather political mystery and phoenix rising from the ashes

I think it's going to come down to HM and Gemini, and I'm going to hold my vote until I have a Gemini warbird on my shelf... So far, HM's got the lead IMHO.

Re: Die-cast event of the year

I agree with Pappy. I will hold off on voting for now.
At the moment though, I give the edge to HM due to the quality and the variety they already/will soon have. Love the fact that they communicate with the customers as well. They have definitely raised the bar.

Re: Die-cast event of the year

Well this is a mighty tough call. For me its between Hobby Master and Gemini Aces.

I'd like to hold off until the GAs arrive but if I had to vote now I'd go with Gemini Aces purely on the basis of my own levels of anticipation.

Re: Die-cast event of the year

I predict Gemini will leave HM in the dust.

Gemini, once a part of Corgi knows the business and have kicked it up a notch with metal props, working flaps, rubber tires, metal stand, limited edition certs, etc. and you even get a swaztika....doesn't get any better.

Gemini will also force HM, Corgi, Dragon and others to improve their product line as well.

HM are selling for $25 and for only another $3 you'll get a better plane from Gemini.

Paying the extra $3 is worth it because you don't have to screw around with a four part decal that's supposed to be a swazi....how pathetic. Sorry HM you'll have to do much better.

The best plane released so far this year is the GMP Texas Longhorn.

Re: Die-cast event of the year

Wow. Gambit you sound pretty sure of yourself there. Then again, I have no reason to disagree with you. When a product has me pondering selling off other stuff I like just so I can afford it, and I haven't actually even seen the new product? Yeah, there's something good going on with Gemini.

I speak under correction, but I think that someone on the UK forum recently indicated that the Gemini Aces warbirds range will also have metal undercarriages .

(I'm also hoping that HM or Dragon will develop and provide some sturdier metal stands for their aircraft, even if they're sold seperately.)
