McCain A-4E

I'm looking for photos of John McCain's A-4E Skyhawk and finding any is like looking for a virgin in a w---e h---e. If you have some either email them to me hawkonevoodoo@yahoo.ca or post them here. Thanks in advance.

Re: McCain A-4E

Here is a painting I found of it. I hope tis helps. I would buy one of these in a heart beat. I met him, a nd he was very cool about talking A-4's with me once he found out I was an airplane guy. He even signed a picture for me.

I can take umbrage, I can take the cake, I can take the A-Train, I can take two and call me in the morning, but I cannot take this sitting down. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to take five.

Re: McCain A-4E

Thanks, this was the only thing I could find for his plane. I thought that such a famous and well known guy like him would have pictures of his plane all over the place.

That is the only one i have seen too.
They make a Mahogany model of his Skyhawk just like the painting.
What"s with the Scottish looking bands on the Skyhawk anyway ?

Re: McCain A-4E

I found this link, shows a B&W pic of, according to the caption below, the A-4 McCain was shot down in...hope this helps.

Found some more pics...one of his capture, and one of him standing with some fellow pilots...doesn't really show much of the A-4 though...and now at closer inspection, doesn't appear to be an A-4 they are in front of.

Re: McCain A-4E

I would rather see a diecast of his Oriskany A-4 (the one he was shot down in) rather than the Forrestal Zuni target. I don't much care for those sissy lookin' plaid bands.

Re: McCain A-4E

Thanks for the posts but I have seen the mahogany model and the painting. There are a lot of pictures of him and only 1 maybe 2 B&W pictures of his plane but it is covered up so much with the net it really isn't much good to me. I'd kill for a couple of color shots and I'm with Skunky I would prefer the plane he was shot down in but at this time I'd settle for either. Even pictures of some plastic models of the plane I'm looking for colors and markings, as much as I can get.

Re: McCain A-4E

Man, I saw a bunch of archival video footage of his plane/squadron in a military channel show a few weeks ago... darned if I recall what it was though. It was all about the A-4, I'll see if I can recall/find out more, but maybe some of the fellas here can fill in my foggy memory. He was interviewed along with several other a-4 pilots and the story focused on the plane's service record in Vietnam...

Re: McCain A-4E

The aircraft that's shown in the painting was lost on July 29, 1967 when U.S.S. Forrestall caught fire.
