When does the long dark tea-time of the diecast begin for 2007?

Hey there folks,
I recall that about this time last year the diecast world shut down for a month or six weeks as all the factories in China stopped working for the New Year. (Chinese, not American/European)

I know the Chinese New Years is coming up in a few weeks but I'm not sure when everything is going to shut down. Anyone have any insights as to when, or if, this will ocurr this year?

If I recall correctly, I believe the Chinese New Year is almost the entire month of February.. I am sure someone here can give you actual dates though..

Yes, the month of February is when all the little kids in China go to school, so they're unable to pump out diecast 16 hours a day for $1.47 a week.

Oh my! I thought it was $1.45 a week! Who would authorized the little tykes a 2c a week increase? Guess it was Corgi since they are raising their prices for 2007 releases.

I would guess that "New Years Eve" would last of all January then. Just think of all those parties going on nightly, no wonder Corgi, Dragon, and the rest 'release dates' are always so far behind.

I looking forward to it - my wallet needs a break. I am still trying to play catch up from 2005!

I think the typical Chinese person works 7 days a week, that is why they take an entire month off for holiday.. Good for them, bad for us...
