Buying Plans for 2007?

Hope everyone had a great Christmas. For me, Santa was kind and I received the Ding Hao Mustang from Gemini Aces - love this model.

The question is, what do you foresee as your diecast buying plans for 2007? For me it's pretty simple - I've preordered two Corgi P-38s (California Cutie and Pudge IV) and am waiting for the Yamato Avenger. I'm also waiting for a 1/72 Buffalo and Hobbymaster's three tone Hellcat. Don't plan on buying too much at full price this upcoming year. Corgi and its outrageous pricing ($49.99 for a 1/72 scale single engine fighter )has lost another collector. Ebay browsing for bargains will undoubtably continue but my collection is up to 87 models and there's not much coming out next year that is making me salivate.

Not much.... Are you kidding?

You don't want a JU-88?? What about the Bush Avenger or a Halifax? Wait, I forget, are you pretty much a PTO guy HT?

Eagles of the Reich birds? Those are great too...

Re: Buying Plans for 2007?

No specific plans as of yet -- I do plan to buy far less Corgi AA going forward, not only for the price hike, but also because I like what I'm seeing from Gemini, too.

That said, I'm probably going to pick up the Olds P-38, Swordie with the invasion stripes, Galland 109, and probably the radar B-24.. (all corgi 1:72 AA)

But more so as I think I'll focus on 1:48 this year... starting with Carousel's 190D-13 and O'hare Wildcat in Feb

Re: Buying Plans for 2007?

The Corgi price hike will definitely limit my purchases this year as well...thank goodness, but there will still be a few that I get. Few = 10 (at least).

My new Carousel pieces, once they come out of the box, may sway me to get some more 1:48 pieces....we'll see how that works out.

Browsing my new 2007 Corgi catalogue.......thanks a ton Merritec....just furthers my troubles, hopefully the o/t keeps up this year.

Re: Buying Plans for 2007?

As I previously posted, I pre ordered two WW I aircraft, along with the Bong P 38 (I can be veeerrrrry patient). Unless the finances improve, that may be about it, unless I find goodies at a good discount.

Thumbs up Re: Buying Plans for 2007?

Well for me, there are no pre-orders I do pretty well with Ebay and a couple of select dealers.

I am hoping to get 1 of each on the new IXO and Hobby Masters.

I will be getting only the new aircraft from Corgi, like the WWI stuff and the JU-88, Typhoon WWII , Probably most of there Warbirds those look to be priced ok for 07.

When it comes to Witty Wings I will be getting only select models, maybe 6 total for the year. Not sure if they plane any new airframes?

Model Power is on the backburner for me, too many scales and all plus who knows what they will actually release, there site has been down for more than 1 month????

Force of Valor, probabably a few more, if they release anything cool, already got the P-40 , Zero , Me-262 all with detailed engines, nice planes for a very low price.

Most likely will get most of the Gemini Aces as well, just got my 1st and they are pretty well done. I am supprised they did not do a bigger stand, even though it is metal and I like the color, it is not big enough and makes the plane look stupid plus tips easily.

I have heard there will be another new company in 1/72, too be distributed by CalTek, they used to do HM until someone else took it over.

I probably forgot someone or some models but this is the way I see 2007.

Cutting back on Tanks, and lunch plus selling off some older Star Wars toys I no longer need to do my Airplane Plan!

Looking forward to another fun year in this hobby.

Flaps

No more 1/48, I am collection only 1/72

Same here, 1/48 and 1/32 scale Corgis for me .

I'm also planning on getting the 3rd Carousel FW190 due in February, but I must stress again that you should really consider the Red 4 FW190D11. It is without a doubt the finest model in my entire aircraft collection - nothing else even comes close (except perhaps the Corgi 1/32 'Battle Scarred' Spitfire ) .

Re: Buying Plans for 2007?

I plan on cutting back on my 1/72 tanks this year...maybe pickup a few shermans and T-34s. As far as aircraft, I'm pretty impressed with Gemini right now, and will probably keep getting their B Mustangs as they come out. Waiting for and will get Hobby Master's Hellcat releases as well as a TBM. For Corgi preordered the Olds P-38, and will go after the Galland 109, and the checkered cowl FW-190 as well as the Allison Mustang. Will probably cut back some this year as costs are getting a bit steep!

Re: Buying Plans for 2007?

For me - most of my purchases will be more along the 1:48th scale from Carousel, Eagles International and FM line. Oh yeah, more new Hobby Master diecasts is in that list as well. I will try to be more selective in what my purchases will be, unless something unique or tempting comes along that it will be so hard to resist, whatever that may be.
