New transport in 1:72?

Over on the UK forum, some time back, Albert Ross (who I believe works for/is associated with Corgi), mentioned that next year Corgi intend releasing a new transport in 1:72 scale. And it won't be a C-47!!!

Apart from the obvious disappointed that it won't be a C-47, what else do people want in the transport line? What what guesses do you have about what they will be announcing?

For me, I think it will be a Junkers Ju 52? Or maybe a De Havilland Rapide? Any other suggestions?

Re: New transport in 1:72?

Well, considering how popular ANYTHING German is, I'd have to guess a Ju 52.

But I still want my C-47 dang it

In this order: C-47, military or naval Connie, Ju 52, C-54.

Re: New transport in 1:72?

I would like to see a Boeing C-97 Stratofreighter with the mismatched alloy panels like corgi did with the B-52 and I think the B-17 "Sentimental Journey"....

or Curtiss C-46 Commando

If it's not a C-47 I think a Ju 52 would be the most logical thing unless it's a C-119. As much as I would like to see a 1:72 Connie or C-97 I don't see it happening just because of the size. I have a 1:72 model of the Enola gay and that thing is a beast compared my other 1:72's it wont even fit in my case.

Re: New transport in 1:72?

Presuming the transport is going to be a WWII aircraft, what are the options other than JU-52 and C-47? Are there any other European theater transports of note?

Re: New transport in 1:72?

I would love to see a C-46 Commando. We have one in the museum, and she is a giant.

I can take umbrage, I can take the cake, I can take the A-Train, I can take two and call me in the morning, but I cannot take this sitting down. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to take five.
