Hobby Master wants your comments

Hobby Master is thinking of producing other lines as well as continuing what they already make. They have asked me to get your opinions and comments so they can judge which way to go or not go. So comment away, the more the better. Or if you would rather email me EMAIL Thanks for your participation in advance.

First they would like your comments specifically about the three options listed below.

The possible new line includes :
(1) 1/72 or 1/144 bombers,
(2) civilian cars, trucks, farm machines, etc. in the scale of 1/43, 1/72, 1/87.
(3) Distributors stated that 1/87 is a very popular scale in Europe playing with steam engines.
UK recommends us to consider a line without scale for kids (something like Model Power).

If you have ideas about other scales or items for them to make please add them in a separate paragraph.

I think to make 1/72 and 1/144 bombers is a good idea.
Why not a 1/72 short sunderland!
A polikarpov.
Lots and lots of russian planes!
Italian planes!
Chinese planes.

1/72 trucks and cars such as kubelwagon, cisterns, trucks that could be found on an airfield.

Little prepainted men.

Optional pilots for the planes

I love Polikarpov

Thanks for your input, this is exactly what I'm looking for. Thanks for getting the ball rolling.

Re: Hobby Master wants your comments

1.Yes it would be nice to have 1/72nd Bombers (B-17,B-24,B-29,Lancaster,Betty)

2.Not interested civillian cars or trucks

3.Not interested in none scale items.

Be nice for them to make a few twin engine planes for a change too.
C-47 in D-Day markings would be nice as well.
It would be nice to make things that the others do not have right now.
A-26, B-26 and P-61 Blackwidow are the ones they really need.

Re: Hobby Master wants your comments

(1) 1/72 or 1/144 bombers,
My first preference would be for a line of 1/72 bombers, but I also collect 1/144, so I would buy 1/144 bombers.

(2) civilian cars, trucks, farm machines, etc. in the scale of 1/43, 1/72, 1/87.
I collect cars too, but only 1/64. I know that there is a pretty loyal faction of collectors for 1/43, and a few for 1/72, but 1/87 seems to be where the Train Collectors come in. I personally feel that 1/64 is saturated with manufacturers right now, making it an iffy proposition for HM, and I would not buy anything in any other scale

(3) Distributors stated that 1/87 is a very popular scale in Europe playing with steam engines.
True. But it is my experience that people who play with model trains consider 1/87 cars just scenery.

UK recommends us to consider a line without scale for kids (something like Model Power).
I collect airplanes, but I really would like to stay in the scales I have already, and not start another one.

That having been said, if you start a kid's line, I would rather see something in a specific scale, whatever it may end up being, than not. I personally detest the "non-specific scale" lines produced by other companies.

Just my $.02.

Re: Hobby Master wants your comments

Ok, here ya go:

(1) love the idea of 1/72 bombers & fighters (Allied/Axis)

Italy: Savoia Marchetti SM-79 bomber, Macchi 202 & 205

(2) civilian cars and trucks don't interest me.

...But I am a motorsports fan so I don't mind if they do some F1 and IRL (Indy Racing League) @$$-rockets?

(3) I'm not interested in a non specific line of models, or I love the idea.

How about a diecast line of WWII fighter engines like Pratt & Whitney, Merlins, Daimler Benz, Junkers JUMO as a novelty items?

Re: Hobby Master wants your comments

Thanks for all the input but would you please comment on the (2) and (3) part of the questions, the civilian cars and so on. If you have no comments or input just say so but say something so they know you at least considered the topic. Thanks.
Example:
(1) love the idea of 1/72 bombers

(2) civilian cars and trucks don't interest me.

(3) I'm not interested in a non specific line of models, or I love the idea.

It just makes it easier to track the topic responses.
Once this done add all the comments you want about whatever.

Re: Hobby Master wants your comments

I would like to see just about ANY:

WWII Japanese and Italian fighters, and some of the major multi-engine planes that we're missing -- B-26, me-410, Havoc, Boston, Betty I doubt I'd go for a P-61, but options are always nice!

P-39, Buffalo.

Jets: Crusader, Corsair, Thud (this one is already coming I believe), Delta Dart....

So, sticking to the format of the post I:

1: Relish the idea of WWII bombers in 1:72, but I'm not into 1:144.

2: Don't care one way or the other about the civ cars and odd scale stuff (1:87)

3. Since Corgi is apparently abandoning 1:32, maybe HM might want to consider stepping in to that scale??

Re: Hobby Master wants your comments

I'd agree with many of the above posts with one comment - HobbyMaster could clean up with 2-engine bombers in 1/72 scale. Specifically doing the planes that no one else has done. Such as :

USA - A26 and A20, P-61 plus several others (I'm at work and have no reference books - ARRGGH!). The ocean patrol planes by Martin? A Hudson?

U.K. - Bleinheim and Beaufort

Japan - Nick, Sally, etc. - No one had touched these and I'd love to see some.

Germany - Blohm und Voss BV-138, Arado Ar 234

Russia - Tupelov Tu-2

Other possibilities :

No one on the planet has done a HAWKER TEMPEST! Why, God, WHY???

Altaya/IXO was set to do a Reggiane 2005 and they changed it. There's one I'd definitely buy. Plus a beautiful Savio-Marchetti would look great next to a Junkers Ju52.

No one's done a Fairy Battle or Fairey Barracuda!

So many choices!
