Re: Hobby Master wants your comments

Hawkonevoodoo,
As always, thanks for being the point man on all this.

(1) 1/72 or 1/144 bombers - I would LOVE to see Hobby Master jump on the 1:72 bombers bandwagon. There are a slew of aircraft they could tackle, all of which I think would be huge sellers. B-26, A-20, DO-17, Arado 234, SM-79 (Okay, that has three engines.), Betty and Petlyakov 2 (The Russian Mosquito if I remember the nickname?

I think this is an expecially good idea since Corgi has bumped their prices recently. I'd love to get one of the new Halifax's or JU-86's, but not for $120.00 a pop.

If Hobby Master is able to bring these planes in around the $50.00 (Perhaps $45.00?) price range, they would fly out the respective doors.

I don't purchase 1:144th aircraft so I don't have an opinion on this.

(2) civilian cars, trucks, farm machines, etc. in the scale of 1/43, 1/72, 1/87 -Personally, I would go for some 1:72 civilian models that would be period relevent to the planes and armor Hobby Master produce. I understand they would be small, but perhaps Hobby Master could make a set of three of four cars, earth-movers, trucks etc that could be packaged at a reasonable price? This would make for dioramas which we could assemble ourselves.

For example, a set of German jeeps, cars, bulldozers or trucks to go along with our Stukas. For the upcoming Hellcats there could be a set of runway building equipment. (For all the island hopping airfields.)

(3) Distributors stated that 1/87 is a very popular scale in Europe playing with steam engines. - I don't do steam engines so this doesn't apply to me. However, another neat idea that Hobby Master might be able to work with would be 1:72 scale armor trains. Our fighters will need something to strafe on those low level missions. I'm not sure how varied armored trains were, nor how much interest there might be, but it's another idea that might compliment our aircraft.

UK recommends us to consider a line without scale for kids (something like Model Power). - While I personally do not have any interest in this, Hobby Master could probably make a good it of cash with this. It's also a nice way of drawing younger folks into the hobby. Of course, that would also depend as much of their distribution and ability to get these "toys" into more than just the Hobby Shops. So i think it's a good idea, though not one I'd personally invest in.

Re: Hobby Master wants your comments

I think the real money is in 1/72 medium twins: A-20, A-26, B-26, P-61, Pe-2, PV-2, etc. The SM.79 mentioned earlier might be another good one. Still plenty of room in other arenas. How about Il-2, Mi-24, F-100, MiG 15, F9F, etc.

Good news on adding figures to the 1/48 armor. A pre-painted line of decent 1/72 figures should do quite well.

Booya! I would love to see pre-painted 1/72 ground crew and pilot figures! And there could be several sets. For nationality - American, British, Japanese, German, Russian, etc. Also sets for Theatre - European, Mediterranean, Eastern Front, Pacific, etc. If Forces of Valor can make sets of 1/72 WW2 soldiers, then HobbyMaster should have no problem with 1/72 ground crew. I would buy these in a heart-beat.

Cha-Ching! $$$ Everybody wants 'em. Nobody makes 'em. Supply and demand. What's to think about?

I would love to see a ME-110, ME-410, HS-126, Do-17 & 217 and the cute ME-163 Komet...all in 1/72 scale. Thank you!

Re: Hobby Master wants your comments

The possible new line includes :
(1) 1/72 or 1/144 bombers,

Yes to both. 1/144 is good for larger bombers. 1/72 is my primary scale and you should consider more single engine bombers like Japanese Kate and Val.

(2) civilian cars, trucks, farm machines, etc. in the scale of 1/43, 1/72, 1/87.

No thanks

(3) Distributors stated that 1/87 is a very popular scale in Europe playing with steam engines.

No thanks

UK recommends us to consider a line without scale for kids (something like Model Power).

I think kids would appreciate constant scale even if you picked something smaller like 1/100 or 1/200 for large aircraft. Also to keep the cost low you might consider ready-made plastic models like Easy Model.

If you have ideas about other scales or items for them to make please add them in a separate paragraph.

I suggest you choose types that have not been done or that have been done poorly (like IXO).

Thanks for the Dauntless!!

Ron

(1) 1/72 or 1/144 bombers,
I prefer 1/72 bombers, but I also collect 1/144 to some extent.

(2) civilian cars, trucks, farm machines, etc. in the scale of 1/43, 1/72, 1/87.
No thanks.
I would buy 1/72 military cars, trucks, support vehicles though.

(3) Distributors stated that 1/87 is a very popular scale in Europe playing with steam engines.
Not my cup of tea

Probably a good idea if they can sell them in the big box stores. Corgi Showcase aircraft seemed to sell pretty well in my local Walmart.

1. That's just about my list too. Add a Fw-189 Owl and an Arado jet bomber too. How about a Mistel set??? German bombers!
1/72 bombers is a great idea. I would buy a good Lancaster from another company but it better be a sweet scheme with tons of history. We need some Jap bombers for my Hellcats and Corsairs to shoot down. Would like to see famous planes though, not just some example. A plane with a story is everythin to me. History and a card with the box matter to me some.
If you must do fighters, keep doing ones with a story please. And I would love to see a Skyraider and Tempest fully loaded down.

2. No interest in non WWII vehicles but would love some RAF/Luftwaffe support ones.

3. Model Power and Corgi showcase seem to have the corner here and I'm convinced that nobody around here cares about anything but NASCAR and monster trucks anyway. The aircraft market is very slow in rural Michigan.

Re: Hobby Master wants your comments

An A-20 and A-26 would be sweet. Also a Curtiss C-46, and Helldiver.

Re: Hobby Master wants your comments

I think to make 1/72 and 1/144 bombers is a good idea.
Why not a 1/72 short sunderland!
A polikarpov.
Lots and lots of russian planes!
Italian planes!
Chinese planes.

1/72 trucks and cars such as kubelwagon, cisterns, trucks that could be found on an airfield.

Little prepainted men.

Optional pilots for the planes

I agree fileasfog. I would like to see items that compliment existing products.
