Re: Hobby Master wants your comments

What happened to the list of "If I owned a diecast plane making comany" or words to that effect? There were plenty of great suggestions that HM could run with and make everyone real happy.

The idea of this thread was to get peoples opinions, if they have one, concerning the questions listed in the very first post. The other thread is great but it doesn't deal with the complete purpose of this thread.
The possible new line includes :
(1) 1/72 or 1/144 bombers,
(2) civilian cars, trucks, farm machines, etc. in the scale of 1/43, 1/72, 1/87.
(3) Distributors stated that 1/87 is a very popular scale in Europe playing with steam engines.
UK recommends us to consider a line without scale for kids (something like Model Power).

Re: Hobby Master wants your comments

Four planes come to mind. 1:72 or 1:48 scale would be fine. Douglas A-1 Skyraider-Korea/Vietnam: Grumman F9F Panther-Korea: Grumman OV-1 Mowhawk- Vietnam and Douglas A-4 Skyhawk-Vietnam. Swoop.

Re: Hobby Master wants your comments

(1) 1/72 or 1/144 bombers
I would support the idea of 1:71 bombers - there are plenty of types not made by Corgi that would be great sellers. I wouldn't buy 1:144 bombers - I stick to just one scale.
(2) civilian cars, trucks, farm machines, etc. in the scale of 1/43, 1/72, 1/87.
I don't collect anything apart from military diecast, so these types don't interest me at all.
(3) Distributors stated that 1/87 is a very popular scale in Europe playing with steam engines.
I guess that 1:87 is OO gauge model railway? I don't do trains either, so wouldn't buy these.
UK recommends us to consider a line without scale for kids (something like Model Power).
If kids are to collect model planes (and that's a big "if"), I think that scale would still be of interest. Price would be more of an issue for youngsters - so a line like Corgi's warbirds would be a better option (ie. cheap, but still in a consistent scale).

#1 All for it, if Hobby Master will focus on smaller size attack aircraft and bombers.
I've got no space for four engine behemoths in that scale like B-17, B-24, Lancaster, Halifax, etc.

#2 Downright suicidal for HM. I run a 1:18 scale sister board to 1:43 board and let me tell you. There are a lot of companies making 1:43 scale models, yet none can touch the almighty Minichamps. Only Spark has been able to carve a niche for itself with Le Mans racers and Schuco with some German trucks and farm equipment. Also EBBRO does well in Japan with its models of Japanese cars. In short, too many players as it is with limited market potential since 1:43 scale is not popular in the States.

#3 Yes, 1:87 is popular in Europe, but once again there are established players like Herpa and Busch.

In short, I think that HM will be better of sticking to 1:72 scale military vehicles and aircraft since this scale seems to be popular all over the world. Also, as crazy as this may sound, HM could literally "re-make" successful models from IXO/Altaya ground and aircraft lines since its already proven that demand for such models does exist.

Regards,

Sergey

Re: Hobby Master wants your comments

(1) love the idea of 1/72 bombers
focke wulf: FW 200 condor
Kawanichi: h8k "emily"
Savoia Marchetti : SM 79 sparviero
Tu polevev : TU 2

Fighters
(1.5) Panes I would like to see:
PZL: P11 polish wwII fighter
Arado AR 196 float plane
Fiat : CR.42 biplane
Fiat : G55 centauro or Macchi folgore
Kawasaki :ki-61 hien "tony"
Any and all russian fighters specialy the I-15 polikarpov biplane

Of course all should have pilots otherwise interest lowers.

(1.7) Civilian planes interest me as long as they are from the time between first and second WW

(2) civilian cars and trucks don't interest me.

(3) 1/85 ? I dont think so, I already have too many 1/72 and 1/144, Modelo power type is of no interest to me.

Oh and 1/32 is too big.

I love Polikarpov

Re: Hobby Master wants your comments

1?72nd scale bombers- a great idea. I would also love to see some cold war stuff. I would love a B-29, b-36, B-47, B-58.

I can take umbrage, I can take the cake, I can take the A-Train, I can take two and call me in the morning, but I cannot take this sitting down. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to take five.

Re: Hobby Master wants your comments

I would strongly support any line of 1/72 bombers and transports from Hobby Master, starting with the venerable and iconic Lancaster . There are many of us out there who would buy a well made Lancaster but who are not prepared to pay the exorbitant prices that the Corgi range currently command (this does show a strong market demand for such models though).

(The Dambusters movie scheduled for release next year would present a good marketing opportunity - perhaps HM can contact Peter Jackson's film production company in this regard.)

Re: Hobby Master wants your comments

Another thought, is there any possibility that Hobby Master would ever make a 1/32 scale FW190 now that Corgi are moving away from that scale? .

(Let's not also forget that 1/400 scale submarine range waiting to be produced by a forward thinking company .)

(1) 1/72 or 1/144 bombers
I would love to see HM make 1/72 scale bombers - especially two-engined aircraft. Especially the P-61 - but the others mentioned above are great as well. I don't care for 1/144 scale aircraft so I wouldn't have any interest in those.
(2) civilian cars, trucks, farm machines, etc. in the scale of 1/43, 1/72, 1/87. I wouldn't purchase any of the above civilian items.
(3) Distributors stated that 1/87 is a very popular scale in Europe playing with steam engines. No interest.
