Re: Diecast regret(s) ?????

2) Anyone have that situation...then after obsessing over the model, paid WAY over list to eventually acquire it? If so, what model(s) and how high did you go?

#2 Is probably the only one that really applies to me in that I once bought all the first release Corgis', but at one point decided I had too much and sold a selection back to the retailer I purchased them from.. These planes included the Galland 109E, Marseilles 109E and Aussie Mossie.. I have since paid a pretty penny to re-acquire many of these planes that I gave back at retail price...

Re: Diecast regret(s) ?????

I had a chance to buy the Franklin Mint SR-71 years ago, but did not, bcause I was only interested in WWII aircraft at that point. Things have changed since then, and my interest in all walks of aviation is now expanded. I have never got my hands on one.

I can take umbrage, I can take the cake, I can take the A-Train, I can take two and call me in the morning, but I cannot take this sitting down. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to take five.

Re: Diecast regret(s) ?????

My first die cast was a 1:32 Corgi Stinger P51 that I picked up at TM about 3 years ago for $30.00. There was also an Air Force One and a B-17 for the same price and I had them in my cart, but funds were tight back then and I decided to just go with the P-51. Now I would give anything to find an Air Force One at a reasonable price.

Then about 1 1/2 years ago, I was in a Tuesday morning and came across about 6 of the Nose Art collection airplanes ( about 3" long ) and bought one of each one. Then I drove to another TM and found 2 or 3 more, then to my 3rd TM of the day and found some more. From that point on I was hooked.

Then somehow I came across this site, and because of some of you great guys, I was able to add about another 10 to my collection.

I have also found some quality FOV at Target.

Overall, I don't think I have paid too much for any one airplane. I can wait for a deal if necessary.

But, I now feel that I have some idea of the value of some of these models, and if TM has a good deal, I will buy them up and hold onto them for a few years and then resell or trade.

Re: Diecast regret(s) ?????

(Maybe we've discussed this before - but I'm not sure.)

What are your diecast regrets?

1) What model(s) did you wish you would have picked up when they were released, but never got around to picking up; and now they are nowhere to be found?

Corgi HE-111 w/ Doodlebug, ANY Corgi 1/72 Lancaster, Corgi B-52 Diamond Lil

2) Anyone have that situation...then after obsessing over the model, paid WAY over list to eventually acquire it? If so, what model(s) and how high did you go?

Hmm...If I ever find any of the above, I'll let you know...Just don't tell my wife!
Possibly Princess Elizabeth, can't decide if I want to pull the trigger or not

Or this situation...
3) Never got around to picking up that model - model then became scare - you thought you would NEVER find it - only to later pick it up for a screaming deal? If so, what model(s)?

Corgi Sleepy Time Gal B-24 on eBay...I can't belive no one else bid on this one when I did!!

Really my only regret was not getting the Grim Reaper Mossie when it came out. I made a choice to buy only one Mossie. I chose the limited edition Aussie Mossie. Both went quick and I've never seen the Grim Reaper for a price that I was willing to pay.

Re: Diecast regret(s) ?????

My one and only regret regarding collecting die-cast is that I did not start this hobby earlier and now I feel like I've missed out on so many excellent models, both tanks and airplanes, that are now either hard to find and expensive or can't find at all.

Nah!...Look at it this way, ACE....You haven't cluttered up your display areas with a lot of the cruder diecast from earlier days.....The best is yet to come (imho)..
