P-51 from 75FS/23FG

Hey gents, I took a picture of a picture of my grandfather's P-51 from the 75th Fighter Squadron 'Tigersharks' from the 23 Fighter Group from WWII. As I was doing this, my dad told me my grandfather painted all the tails and stripes for all of his squadron's P-51s. Sorry for the mediocre quality, but this will suffice until I get to a real scanner.

Since the wing is hiding the noseart, it actually looks like:

IOWA
_BELLE

And the three kill marks under the canopy front window are more visible on the real picture.

Cheers!

That is awsome. That is great that you have some of his pics from the war.

It's pretty cool that you have his story to go with it.

Hey Cavtanker, thanks for sharing that picture. The 75th just had a reunion a couple weeks ago.

That is awsome Cav to have a grandfather do that to the Mustangs during the war.
Thanks for sharing this with us.

Very cool, Cavtanker, I'm sure you're rightfully proud of him! Any plans to do a repaint in his markings (once you can get a spare Gemini or forthcoming Corgi razorback Mustang at a fair price, of course)?

Re: P-51 from 75FS/23FG

I would love to have a P-51 in his markings. But I don't really have the skills or knowledge to do the work. But having a few 1/72 razorback P-51s is good enough for me.

Re: P-51 from 75FS/23FG

Thatwould be cool. We could do aircraft the are associated to members on the forumn, this P-51 would be the first in a line.
