Fw-190 to be raised from the Sea. NOW WITH VIDEO, post #29

Tomorrow a Fw-190A-2 will be raised from the sea in Norway. It went down in 1943, pilot was saved by locals. Its now laying at 60 meters depth. There is a lot of wind, but hopefully this will not interfere with the raising.

It will be restored at put in a local museum

Re: Fw-190 to be raised from the Sea

That is awsome. I am all in favor of raising these aircraft as long as they are not the final resting place for the pilot and crew. I hope to see some pics of this.

I can take umbrage, I can take the cake, I can take the A-Train, I can take two and call me in the morning, but I cannot take this sitting down. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to take five.

From my own knowledge, the F.W.190 is a machine that was based at Herdla (in Northern-most Norway) in the Artic Circle - & was operated by J.G.5....... (the only Jagdgeschwader based in the region & responsible for North-Norway's defence).

J.G. 5 are known as the 'Eismeer' Jagdgeschwader - the badge relates to their operating base's location 'in the land of the midnight sun'.

Apparently, the Norwegians are gonna try to raise it tomorrow (1st Nov).

The '190 crashed into the sea, on 15th Dec 1943 - the pilot was rescued by others on land.

translate if you will - good luck !!!!!!!!
